I agree with Mike as I've seen several who fit this description and it usually turns out to be a case of someone assisting the player, you'll probably see this person recruited into a team soon enough.

This is an awkward area, in my first season I hit lucky with a good driver, I just went for the highest OA available and paid about £1,000,000 a race and although I didn't know it at the time his stats were good in all the right places and he turned out to be freakin' awesome. I had a mate who had started playing a bit before me and he gave me some basic pointers, and I think I was lucky that I was in a league that didn't seem to be too competitive. Put all those variables together with the fact that I tended to go conservative with tyres and used to over fuel rather than under fuel, and I managed to promote despite missing the first few races. I never used to post in the forums because I felt I had nothing of value to say being a newbie, some people just don't feel the need to post in forums, and some people may have a language barrier. It honestly used to take me about 30 minutes to set up for each race as I knew nothing of happy ranges, I'd more than likely run 2 stops on mediums, and somewhere between work and GPRO I've got a family to keep happy and a social life to squeeze in. I've never been a DA (if I was I wouldn't be drawing attention to myself now), and I'm only posting this to say it is possible to be succesful in your first season with not much effort. I've found that the more I play the longer it takes me to set up for race day as I'm trying to use all the knowledge I've gained along the way. So yeah, the guy may be a DA, or he may just be lucky, or good, or a bit of both.
Quote ( Kris Holt @ September 4th 2012,23:31:13 ) I would be disappointed if someone reported me purely on the basis of my results. I only don't have a team because the requirement to be social is one I can take or leave. But this is pretty much your basis for suspecting that the other guy is a DA.
Mod edit: combined double posts together.

All very good points, David. I'm inclined to err on the side of giving him the benefit of the doubt. Even if he's a DA, I can still beat him ;)
If he is a DA he should be out, don't get me wrong on that. I'm just saying there's every chance he isn't.
I understand what you're saying, David, and his performance is similar to your own so that's clear proof that it's possible to have a great first season. I think the clear impression I'm getting from people who've been kind enough to respond is that from their experience, there's every chance that he's a genuine player who's playing well, in which case all credit to him. I'll up my game! :D

If you think the guys a DA report him, and hopefully Mr Shadow will be able to investigate further...there isnt really much debate here.
I'm sure if you were to report him, and shadow to investigate it would do no harm. If you see an R next to their name, then they were a DA. If not then, chances are they weren't..

Quote ( Michael Pollard @ September 5th 2012,00:15:30 ) If you see an R next to their name, then they were a DA. If not then, chances are they weren't.. I thought the "R" next to their name meant they had requested a rookie reset at season end or that they were relegating/retiring.

David, you are correct, that is what the R stands for, though on occasions you might find such managers that no longer log into their account, and those would probably be the DAs.

Quote ( Michael Winkley @ September 5th 2012,00:35:07 ) you might find such managers that no longer log into their account, and those would probably be the DAs. Right, I get the logic now, though I stopped logging in for a couple of months or so leading up to and just after the birth of my daughter as I found it enabled me to continue sleeping in the marital bed. God, I'm really putting myself in the frame here.

I only now saw it... My group 'winner' is a 75% DA also.
Less than 1h per race ? For real ? 87m cash. no forum posts.
Unreal.
Bah, missed one fact...

And was in a team from the season he promoted from Rookie until the start of this season.
Could be a DA? Possibly. Could be innocent? Possibly.

da are rife in the game and there's not much that can be done about it. shadow you say but there's really not much he can do. he probably detects more genuine accounts as being da than actual da that the whole community can see. it wouldnt surprise me if da were allowed because its more accounts seeing the advertising on the site so more revenue for the gpro team.
if you do suspect a da though then report it to mr automated shadow

My guess is he speaks very little English. No crime there.

Bah, missed one fact... You need to give more time for analysis, but not the forum to scribble. I do not want anything to offend This is my first post:) good day to all

Like I edited, I missed one fact, means yes, I am more likely wrong now :D
But isn't it with every person that he can be a DA ? :P

I have a doubt right here... a lithuanian guy in my group ( /gb/Standings.asp?Group=Pro%20-%202 ) was caught this season as a DA, (and yes, he had a R next to this name) but now he strangely is back! What´s happened, was he proved inocent or something? And how?
Anyway... last race he made a bit of a awkard strategy and made a big train of blocking, with me included. I don´t have any problems with guys blocking me, it´s part of the game (a bad one, still), but what intrigues me is that a proved DA is back on the game playing as nothing happened. Is that a prank or a kind of joke? Or is there something big I´m missing? C´mon, this just don´t seem real...

How do you know that?

8 races ban? Or just a long holiday.

You answer your own question. Clearly enough evidence has been provided to Mr Shadow to convince him that this is not a DA. Beyond that, and how it happened is nothing really to do with anyone other than the person concerned and Mr Shadow.

check joan centellas ....
admins seem to have a line to give a '2nd chance' for everybody.
ed - and this is what you get for not clicking the link lol, Gordon is correct in that case I would guess
Regardless of the whole DA issue, I think it's a problem if admins can "unretire" someone and remove the R. That can have an unexpected impact on others.
It happened some time back in a Master group too, though a request for an R that was later removed.
My theory on this is the guy owned up his guilt which was linked to Pocius in my group.
He has been given a length of ban and is allowed back to race. Personally I would not like to see such accounts in the game but if he is sincere and wants to race etc. Then put him back to Rookie and they should not have let him race again this season.
Just my two pence :)

You trying to entice me into purchasing the thumbs? It will never happen. I will not pay a cent to see who thumbed me down. I truly do not care. :)
