MY NAME IS NOT KRISTY Edit as it sounds so harsh lol... I get called Kristy on this bloody game about 4 times a day :P But... a gentle reminder would have sufficed lol

i dont as you say no data on that track, but according to WIKI you should be able to get at least 3 races on each part with no risks. i was no where near three on each.

Technical problems race 7
Lap 21
The brakes effectiveness was dropping due to overheating and they had to be fixed
Technical problems rce 8 Lap 27
One of the wheels seemed to be loose and had to be fixed
Technical problems race 9
Lap 39
The underbody of the car was damaged after your driver climbed too high on the kerbs

2nd is pure random,
the other two might be random but depends on multiple other factors which is why Jonathan said no.

Cheers Jonathan & Gordon, but frustration at three races in rookie for a newbie is hard to take..

2 in 2 races. This 'game' is fast becoming a farce!
|
|
|
I just had two in one race :(
And I was in race for my first points this season.

I suggest we all tell the Admins that we will either quit the GD game or we will ALL stop paying the supporter fee until they fix this SHIT!!!
|
|
|
I can't see what randoms do for the game apart from winding people?
|

Randoms are important in changing the order of the races.
If for example there would be no randoms in the game, everybody played perfectly and the weather remained constant in all races. Then you would never be able to change your place and the whole season would be very boring and much more frustrating than the eventual bad place you would get from a random event.
Edit: I think we all would agree that being hit by a random can give a bad feeling for us, but seeing the others being hit by it all around us is very entertaining!

Felipe that's not something that can be said for this season!!

I had a random lap 22 this race when I was sitting pretty in 3rd. 2 laps later I get a puncture but made it back to the pits. Then the rain stops, then it starts again. Initially I was pissed as hell at the random and then the puncture, but by the time the rain had started again, I have to say I had cooled down and was laughing with what was going on. I had managed to get to 6th, when you guessed it, I started to smoke, but luckily 7th was too far behind to catch me! I finished 6th and if I'm honest, while initially it was galling what had happened, as Felipe says, it's making for an interesting season and keeping us on our toes.
If things were too easy it would be boring, so fellas, just chill when the random hits and think of the good times! :)

Chris, I appreciate your good attitude and agree it's not worth getting too worked up over.
What I mean; a lot of time and effort can go in to working out various short and long term stategies, which can be dashed to pieces by such things as weather, wrong or bad setup, racing against better managers etc. which is all part of the fun and games. But, when it's due to a number of 'random' events, then I can understand why people find it very frustrating.

|

Woo hoo! Three "randoms" in one race. I was not going to get upset if 1 happened but dang...3? Owwww. I could have possibly scored with 2 but the 3rd was game over.

Oh I totally agree mark, about randoms "winding" people up, but I guess the admins are trying to equal things up maybe this season? Or maybe trying to stop us 2nd guessing that the weather may be the same as in the past?...:)

People wait a minimum of 3 days for a race, and equally as often, 4 days.
In terms of online gaming, thats a VERY long time. Not to mention the end of season breaks and holidays etc.
Amazingly people still play the game with such long breaks between races. But the randoms will definitely send most online gamers over the edge. After a two week wait after the end of season break, to get a puncture after 4 laps and people will leave.
Im not saying get rid of them, Im just saying lower them, a lot, in my opinion. And also clearly define what a real random is in the rules, so everyone knows. No-one can get an advantage by knowing this.
* Im not talking personally, Im not bothered about racing now, but more from a customer point of view, and essentially a business one*
|
|
|
trouble is though...if there were less randoms then the customers will be even more frustrated when the races are predictable....surely it's a bit of a yin and yang type thing?
I hate getting randoms as much as the next guy but the thing which always makes my heart glow is:
Quote ( Felipe Aguiar @ January 19th 2013,08:16:45 ) seeing the others being hit by it all around us
and to always remember that:
Quote ( Chris Small @ January 20th 2013,12:27:04 ) If things were too easy it would be boring, so fellas, just chill when the random hits and think of the good times! :)
Though, I doubt a newbie can relate to either of those two quotes as they have no affinity/addictiveness relationship with the game like us lot on here...maybe they should stop randoms happening in rookie at least? or is that wrapping the game up in cotton wool?

I dont think it will change teh predictability of the game in any way personally if you take the quote 'Its the same for everyone' then nothing changes. Its still teh same for everyone but they are lower for everyone.
We have to try and remember what it is like to be a new player.
They get no explanation of what true randoms are, no idea how or if they can change it, (Considering a lot of these 'randoms are part failures as they have no idea of the wear on a track, and what risks do)
If they had a clear defined way of knowing what a true random was and didnt get them 5 times a season (As some really do) then they could maybe understand where they are going wrong, without having to ask and get a FOBY reply. Its not good business.
