Welcome to the 217th season of F1 Forum Game
Inventions That Changed the World
THE RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. You can join the game at any time of the season by just posting #Join [Team].
2. Two players per team. The teams must be named over a past or a present F1 constructor:

3. You can reserve the other spot in your team to a specific manager. If that manager doesn’t join the game in 24 hours after the reservation the spot will become free for everyone. You can’t reserve the spot for more than one manager.
4. If a certain number of teams has been created and there are teams with free spots, the host can stop the process of creating new teams until the free spots are filled up. This process of team entries being closed and opened may be repeated.
5. If you don’t participate in 4 races in a row (DSQs don’t count as participations) without reason then you can be removed from your team and become team-less. No one will be automatically removed from a team. Once you have missed 4 races in a row, your teammate may request your removal by sending a PM to the host. After that the spot becomes available for others to join.
6. Anybody that unjoined or got removed after the sign-up won’t be eligible for another team. This means no team changing mid-season. However you can still join back and stay team-less.
7. The game will start when there are an ample number of participants (usually 14-16 participants). No maximum number of participants.
8. The champion of the season will host the following season unless he/she is unable for some reason. If this happens the right will go to the player that ended in second place and so on. The champion must do a sabbatical season, even if he/she doesn’t host.
9. The host must avoid the Online Friends page especially when there is no race taking place. The host must also avoid other situations that can create doubt over the fairness of the game (e.g. teasing the players with messages related to the game on any channel outside this topic).
10. The host must not announce the race start times as it’s completely against the game nature.
11. There will be 1-3 races per day (CET time) and 7 races per week should be the absolute minimum. There will be 24 races in the season, and every hour will be used (CET time) so that no players have an unfair advantage over others because of their time zones. Race start times will be randomly chosen and will be spread across the day respectively.
12. All you have to do is post “Finish” after a host has started a Grand Prix (e.g. Start Spanish GP – using Grand Prix is also correct). The ”Finish” must be posted on a separate line from any other text (words or numbers – a smiley or punctuation is fine) to be counted as a race finish. Posting finish as part of a sentence or as a quote (unless you use the quote to finish the race – see rule 18) won’t count as a race finish and won’t be punished.
13. There may be hidden/very hidden starts. All the words must be in the same post and in the correct order. The words (or even letters, but in this case they must be highlighted using bold, italic, different color etc.) may not be together and can be spread in the post.
14. The host can edit a post to add a start, but never beyond the 30 minutes edit time. However, the host should not edit the post after a start has been added to it (to avoid confusion related to the start time).
15. If you are unsure if a guest-host is legitimate or not, then you should finish anyway. As long as there is a post containing the valid race start wording no one will be punished if the guest-host turns out not to be genuine. A player currently competing in the game can’t be a guest-host.
16. You can post “Finish” until a host ends the race (e.g. End Spanish GP – using Grand Prix is also correct). The race will finish any time after there are 10 valid finishers or if the mod decides a long enough time has passed and it is unlikely to reach 10 valid finishers (perhaps due to a large number of DSQs). The scoring will be 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 respectively. Anyone finishing beyond that won’t receive points but will be credited for taking part of the race.
17. You are not allowed to edit any posts after the season has started (a post will be placed in the thread to warn you when the season officially starts). If you do this when a race is taking place you will be DSQ from that race. If there is no race taking place you will be DSQ from the next race. The penalty can be increased to more races for future offenses.
18. You will also be DSQ in the following situations:
a) Finishing twice in the same race – DSQ from that race.
b) Finishing when there is no race taking place (except if you “Finish” within 10 seconds after the race end) – DSQ from the next race.
c) Quoting a “Finish” post to finish – DSQ from that race.
d) Starting your own races – DSQ for the next 2 races.
e) Spamming (e.g. counting how many players have finished, how many are needed to finish, asking when the next race will start, words or phrases that replicate “Finish” etc.) – DSQ from that race, or the next if no race is taking place.
19. You will be DSQ for more races in case of finishing the race deliberately after you know you already are DSQ from that race (unless the host has not made a clear post announcing the DSQ). The exact number will be at the host discretion and the decision will be final.
20. If anyone is trying to gain an unfair advantage, bending rules out with the spirit of the game, having an inappropriate behavior or for any matter not covered in the rules that are against the game nature, then you may receive punishment at host discretion. Host decision on this is final.
