So, the problem is not the joke. A "healthy" humour is many times used to criticise bad attitudes. But humour is very important.
The problem exists when you're a racist, homophobic, etc.
Don't blame it on the joke. I can say a joke about racism, most probably to make people realise racism is a problem, not to offend that particular person.

I think more focus on intention like this, and less on precise content without context would kill off a lot of these endless political correctness debates.
If you're spraying around offence at all targets equally and some people are laughing then it's not a stretch to say you're exercising freedom of expression via humour, and if the offence is particularly original your jokes might even have artistic merit. Awesome.
If you tell one offensive joke and then use it as a jumping off point to highlight some pertinent societal issue - as Andrew's not entirely straightforwardly misogynistic joke could be used for - then good for you and again, screw the political correctness.
On the other hand if every other sentence you say has a particular nasty subject then it's reasonable to observe you're desperately trying to signal your prejudice to anyone who cares.
The problem with censorship is that inflexible rules are not particularly good at detecting context, but people on the direct receiving end of speech are pretty good at identifying intention so if they're saying you're being a dick telling a particular joke you probably are being a dick.
And the issue the world has in recent years is that so much speech gets analysed by people out of context because short quotes get shared around on social media or quoted in the press and well meaning people make snap judgements about them while not so well meaning people weaponise faux-offence for partisan purposes. But that's not what's happening here.

Can't say I've heard of the old cloakroom rub, P.E showers saw a lot of head polishing though. The cleaners became very annoyed due to the build up of the excess polish, made the floors quite sticky apparently.

well, quite a lot of opinions and views so here is mine -
there are clearly two divisions here
before jumping to any conclusion that joke is misogynistic, racist, and a joke supporting prejudice or other ill practices in society (division 1) or whine that it's my right to express my views/opinion, you can't stop me (division 2) ... what I think we should take care of JOKE according to (division 2)/FOUL STATEMENT(division 1) again -
what was the context of the joke
was it metaphor
was it attacking someone personally
and who are objecting....

li want to concentrate more on objecting part rest is your homework... although males are more in this game doesn't mean female doesn't have access to the forum... did any single female objected this??
or is the majority of people visiting this forum are against that joke than by clear principles of democracy the joke isn't right here irrespective of context or metaphor.
secondly, for the people who start to attack another person personally u are clearly worse then them(if they are wrong).it's disgusting to see people attacking other's wife and daughter forsake of their own opinion and that's clearly WRONG.
Also who feel that the joke support such activity, think for a while have u done enough to stop these things in real life so u are in a position to have the responsibility to speak on behalf of all women on the forum of a game... just think and analyze ...maybe u should act on root cause and if the joke is in any way root cause or not you have to understand it's context without jumping to a conclusion
both division 1 and 2 should take a pause and think before making things toxic.
P.S. ignore grammatical errors
@Andrew Wilden join the discord server I am sure u will have some laughs there as well.
