this is a spin off from another thread, but i think that new year is crap and there is no need for celebration. Nobody likes it, and those that go along with it do so out of a misguided and outdated sense of duty .
abolish it i say.

Everyday should be a holiday. Make all the people who cant be arsed to go to work, work everyday for 1 year and pay for me to sit at home. :)

all that auld-lang-syne and mull of kintyre gotten a bit out dated now I would agree, but many probably love it...I'm not that much of a traditionalist tbh, i dont really like christmas that much, and new year probably less so...its just much-ado about another day in the year. I could live without all if it. I'd rather watch an episode of eldorado even.

Was totally in agreement until you mentioned Eldorado........then realised you're still drunk. Hic :)

Holidays are what you make of them. Same as Christmas, thanksgiving, birthdays or whatever. If a holiday is deemed as being crap then its probably more to do with that person rather than the actual holiday imo.

this time of year makes me think of elvis.
all those number ones and it was a number two that killed him.

I'm rather addicted to GPRO and waiting for the next race is a burden. If the reasons are good or supported by the majority, however, I am willing/have to/am going to accept that.

I think there have been too much this kind of discussion lately. Admins have always done best decisions to let the game live and grow, so if they're decided there will be break, then don't cry about it.
Though they may listen you and remove the break next year. I don't really care, I just ask for some respect, not some crying. We're all like little kids nowadays, but nothing can be done. This game is too addictive :/

i haven't mentioned the break in the game. I am talking about real life here. get with it man.

Christmas is just a reason for retailers to put prices up for a couple of weeks, and then claim that they are offering you a discount when change the price back to its original price. Most of the time they stock only one or two of said promotional items knowing full well that only a mug would buy them in November, and for the sole reason that they have to do such a thing to be able to legitimately falsely advertise sales to us. For New Years insert taxis and pubs where appropriate.

They do this all year long.

Don't ever agree with Petrus, even if he is telling the truth (like this time). You are just feeding the troll.

A holiday is always a good day. There should be more of them, not less. New Year's Day is a day to celebrate and getting drunk. Nice day to celebrate with family, friends, etc. Has to be a holiday.
|
|
|
They do, but its more noticeable at Christmas...being the one time of the year that even I enter a retail establishment.

i would love to know how much (as a percentage of the national net income) is wasted in food which is binned, and more significantly, by presents bought and never used as the person who received them has no wish/ use for them.

So... what are all you miserable t**ts actually saying exactly? Because the shops rip people (who don't know any better) off then we should abolish holidays & all go to work instead? I don't get it...

If the shops didn't rip you off you'd "have to" go to work a lot less.
