I think most people's issue with LH is his personality not his skin colour, that article complains that he lost BBC Sports personality of the year in 2008 to Chris Hoy. Of course he did, not because Chris Hoy is white but because it was an Olympic year and Hoy won a load of gold.

And Mcilroy will win it this year for being, well, exceptional. Can't wait for the same comparisons...

E: First golf player to win it for 25 years, since Nick Faldo? Will be interesting, he has to win it...

While I do agree he doesn't seem to have the same support a white driver would maybe have in the same situation (if this is because of his personality, which is likely, or because of his skin colour I can't tell), I have to say the article is extremely biased and really doesn't help itself with sentences like "he could have won at least two more world titles were it not for some outrageous bad luck". I mean, really? He was very lucky in 2008. And you could argue he was very unlucky in 2007. But that's it, don't tell me 2010 was about bad luck.

He deserves it, just wonder how much his marriage fiasco is going to impact it (if at all)

What a load of total Guardian shite as usual. He's not as popular because Jenson Button has more fans and they will constantly be compared to each other, Jenson Button is more like any normal person, he has a great personality. Skin colour does not come into it. Hamilton has the fans that like fast drivers, but the ones that go to Silverstone is clearly a lot more Button fans.

Actually he has more fans than Jenson has (hence why people cheered when Lewis passed Jenson at Silverstone and why Hamilton has repeatedly come ahead of Jenson on driver support polls on Autosport). What Jenson does not have is a rabid group of haters who look for every opportunity to post hateful content towards him.

The reason why that happens is very clear.

Jensen seems like a nice guy? Is that the clear answer that you're thinking of?

Jensen moans more than Lewis, especially about car set up & tyres. He also throws his team mates under the bus when results for the team don't go to plan. Something he's done with Kmag this season, Perez last season & Barichello when he was at Honda.

Don't get me wrong I'm a big JB fan but I always find it a bit ironic when people say yea Lewis is good but Jensen is a nicer guy.

I also don't get the Kimi Raikkonen irony either - when Kimi is miserable & abrupt with the media all the time everybody thinks he's cool. When Lewis is miserable & abrupt with the media occasionally everybody thinks he's arrogant.
