Stirling Moss for Me, although as I started watching F1 in 1993/4 (at the age of 3 lol) Damon Hill has always been one of my favorites!

Graham Hill for me. When I was a kid, that is what I thought an F1 driver should look like. Plus, I was a big fan of Lotus at the time.
Edit: Ooops. Voted for my favorite driver from way back, not necessarily "the greatest". That would probably be Clark.

the first racer - W Williams aka Willy Grover, a hero from the past.
He was brill too.
He won the first ever Monaco GP in 1929

Not forgetting Sir Henry Segrave, most recognised by his capture of the land speed record, and tragic death when trying to beat his own water speed speed record and also Sammy Davis, known for being very open to the public about the thrills and dangers of racing.
