Why in a long programming game, in the most important category, does the random weather factor matter so much?
Why is choosing a tire a bet?
It's right?

S80, 81, 83, 85 and so far 86 have been 2nd to 28th coldest seasons in history (not bad from total 86) and in the same period only S80 was considerably dry. Avonn come up short because they suck, not because of weather, which if anything has been tremendously good in overall.

Guess there were just some new fans installed on the servers late S79.

The announcement of developmentments "being stopped" for reasons "a bigger feature is incoming and doing any changes while it is in development complicates things in the background."

This is clearly the installment of a water cooling to the server, so time to face it all: GPRO is clearly going Ice Age :P

Incorrect: GPRO is developing the Super Pipi tyre, which has maximum attributes on everything, every temperature is peak temperature and it costs 15M per race. Enjoy! :P

Since this game is a management game and not a racing game. Why can't we have a weather prediction for the entire season at the start of the season? I don't think it will cause everyone going for the same tyres. It will benefit the people that make a good season planning, which should always be the goal. We plan PHA a lot in advance but if the weather doesn't suit your tyres you are screwed anyway.

An alternative would be to publish the calendar with a separate weather forecast in A and B. Where A would be below 25° and B above 25°. rain would not be disclosed. At least we could plan better for the season. And the random factor would be decreased.

Now a question: what is the probability of having so many cold races in a row?

It has been discussed a billion times. It would make things much more boring as the conditions would be way too predictable and possibly skewed.

I like the idea of a medium/long term weather forecast being provided at the start of each season without too much detail being given away. For example- "the first half of the season is expected to be [significantly/slightly] cooler than average". I don't think specific numbers should be used as weather is pretty random; I know this is a game but I don't think realism should be thrown out of the door. But I don't know whether (no pun intended) this would be possible with the game engine and the way weather is generated.

Maybe the question is whether peak temperature effect could/should be toned down? But that would be a very fine line to look at without everyone jumping onto premium tyres.

I would've raised my eyebrows if this weather counted to me, but (sadly or fortunately for someone) this is how random sampling works. There once was a professor who asked the students to generate 100 coin flips and write it down, half of them got a coin, and flipped that, the other students just have to write a 100 long series consisting 0-1s, after they finished the professor tried to figure out whohad a coin, and he quite successfully do it cause the ones who dont get a coin do not write long subseries of 0/1s, however if you really simulate it with coinflip usually you get longer subseries as well. This is what happens in GPRO as well, and indeed it's infuriating if you're in a fight for the top spots...

Don't like this idea at all - in my opinion we would all end up on the same tyres. There needs to be a random element in the game and weather is as random as it gets.

would it not be better that the tyre prices are adjusted bi-seasonally to reflect the weather temps and rain laps of previous 2 season's data (for example) ?

Surely that would be better than changing the game mechanics? Give people a better reason to gamble on tyres where weather has not been in their favour reflected by price change more readily? Then nobody can complain really since you buy into whatever you consider a gamble (or not, since the weather could still unpredictably be a good season for a tyre that had bad luck in previous seasons).

@Stefan Voggenreither (R4) could maybe do that while constructing the season calendar, maybe...or maybe he has enough on his plate :D

I like the idea to adjust prices of the tyres. I think there was a suggestion some time back to adjust prices based on popularity of the tyres. That's probably a better idea because it can be done automatically and objectively.

I think a very rough weather forecast for the entire season would be nice. It neither has to be always correct nor does it have to be specific.
E.g. something like "For race 7, expect an average temperature in the 20-30°C range and 0-25% rain probability".
I doubt it would cause everyone to take the same tyres, since not everyone wants to push in the same races.

I am glad this isn't just me that is now complaining, this has derailed my promotion attempt, being in a group where all the promoters took dunnos. I chose my tyre based on the predicted range in testing, the average ktrack (FOBY whatever, who cares) and budget - and I expect over the course of the season that there will be a roughly +-2 races equal amount of races where one tyre is advantageous. Not 7 from 8 races...

I therefore believe given the information I had at the season start, the impact on testing stint lengths and ktrack that I made the correct choice... it is a shame this went punished by the weather "Gods".

In a game like this, where planning is the key to success at every level, we should keep randomness to a minimum.

I expect over the course of the season that there will be a roughly +-2 races equal amount of races where one tyre is advantageous. Not 7 from 8 races...

But, from the last 9 races, you only need a 6-3 split in favour of your tyres to get right back into your rough bracket.

Also, there need to be outlier seasons to keep everyone honest. You’ve just got unlucky for the first half of this season.

Of course, I’m happy this season so far, since I picked Avonn’s! ;)
