just collect data. it takes time. becoming a supporter helps greatly

Become a supporter and race a season gather data.

Look how total fuel you use and how long are the circuit.

I think you use a different amount of fuel every time you go to the same circuit, so you can't know for certain the exact amount of fuel you'll need next time.

keep an accurate recording of the total fuel used and the factors that affect fuel consumption (of course that's a FOBY and you will have to find out by yourself, so it is good to keep a recording of everything until you start to see some patterns) it could be more easy to handle the formulas as of fuel per distance, however in that case you will have to keep an extremely precise recording and accurate calculations 8-)

that is not true at all

Well it is because you will use less fuel if you are stuck in traffic for 50 laps rather than open road for 50 laps.. so depends on that but generally you can figure out to 5-10 litres

The more data you accumulate the better your calculations become. It is common for most managers at Pro and above to pit exactly when they want to. You just need enough data to analyse, and that will come with time.

should i work it out per lap? total fuel used? Most people calculate it km/litre, then you can compare various tracks with different lap lengths.

Hi Josh. Collecting data & keeping a track of fuel consumption is definitely a good idea but be patient at first as quite a few things affect fuel consumption. It sounds like you're going to enjoy working on the ins & outs of the game but I'd look at just gathering data for now to get some rough starting points until you get more of a feel for things.
trying to calculate too much too soon can get you in a mess. It was a mistake I made a couple of years ago & it put me right off the game.

Working with litres and kilometres is the best way to do it by popular consensus.
As already stated, fuel consumption is extremely complicated in this game. It is nigh on impossible for a new player to get the fuel consumption bang on. However, within a few races of data mining you should be able to spot general trends and get yourself within a few litres for each race distance. Good luck. :)
