A new version of Pole Position is going to be released on 27.05.2010.
Its a midprice game(30€) so you shouldnt expect to much.
But in my opinion the old one was one of the best F1sims ever. Its about 10years old,had many bugs but also great potential,so i hope the new one with 10years between will not be worse :)

There was one I played absolutely eons ago. Instead of just boring pages like GPW you would click on the managers office and negoiate drivers and sponsors. Click on a door and it would take you to a design office in which you could obviously develop parts and then a manfactuing shop where you built designed parts or just bought off the shelf parts

then clicking on the motorhome would take you to the race weekend

Sounds like F1managerPro but I think you might already heard of it before. :|

Do you mean Pole Position 2011?
I thought it was released all ready. :S
Their official forum has a lot discusion about it's bugs and many say that they feel it's a unfinished version and shouldn't be released atm. :(

btw it's based on RTL if you know this older version.

Hmm i dont think so.On the cover its named "Pole Position 2010" and the official release is 27.05. I recognized it on amazon but several other resources say 27.05 too. Maybe its the same game, could you give a link or something?
A thing about bugs:Was there any F1manager in the past without tons of bugs, especially in the longterm?^^

It has to be Pole Position 2010 which was released earlier this month. One shouldn't expect too much from it though since it is most probably RTL rehashed.

Sara, I played in 1996 a game simply called F1 Manager. I can't remember the producer, so I could search for more, but it had a cool intro (in 1996 it wasn't common for opening movies) and you actually get to see the race from on-board camera, as well as the classical heli-cam. What it was funny was that when approaching the car in front, the car from behind didn't pass the car in front, but walk through it instead :) I have to look more. I played that game quite long, I liked it.

That was the first version that came out.. I remember it and still have it somewhere. The followup was caller F1 Manager Pro. Yoe get to design all the parts for the car. I thought it was quite a good game but very time consuming. The part that put me off when the race weekend came and you had to go through all practise qualifyings and race in one session. There was no way to save it after each day..

I have most of the F1 manager games that was released over the years..

Honestly all of the purchasable F1 manager games were extremely primitive & too easy to find the loopholes to win in. Their depth of gameplay were non-existent & they didn't sell well so the game developers never bothered (probably wouldn't have bothered regardless).
I'd doubt that they'll do any more than re-badge their old, flawed games.

With regard to GPRM that was mentioned.

I've been a tester of that game for around 3 years and work is still ongoing. Recently things on the site have quietened down whilst there is behind the scenes work being completed. I started a GPRM topic on here a while back but not many people paid attention to the topic. AT the moment there is a competition going on the design logo's for some spare teams, and the best designs will win someone a BETA test key.

Deadline is the 25th:
http://www.gprm.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=5559.0

A lot more work has been going on recebtly and many pictures of the game etc can be found on the teams facebook group:

I like it too, but you really have to spend a lot of time trying to get the best setup, you only get little hint or help from the driver or technical staff. But it's still a nice game.

It is quite now, although some of you testers will post your progress and some screen shots, but it doesn't have much to talk about right now, maybe I missed something but that's what I feel. :S

Those contests are great, but not everyone have the time or skill to jion the contest. lol

Thank you Max!

I wonder too how they all can play it right now.But seems not to be a good option.Like most companies they try to make profit within the first weeks after release and drop it after marketing loses its effect. They even spend more money for ads than for developement...
Sadly the most common strategy in the game industry.

Im open to being convinced otherwise ;)

Indeed, looks like not only game companies in Taiwan but some of those western companies do the same too, it's not just sad but also shame. :S

Anyway, if GPRM is going as steady as Josh said, I hope that we can all see it before 2010 ends. Although lots people have waited more than 3 years or so. :p

Well, it's not bad. Make me remind the old F1 manager games but with a lot more features. They had launch the game incomplete - for example, a single setup can work well on every race that's why i'm waiting for the new patch that will fix it. But i recommend, I give it 7/10 and after the patch the game will be better
Playing it on Very Hard is very chalenging, you need to research parts for your car, adapt them for the new season rules, contract good drivers, staff, make plans, invest well the money, make good strategies for the races etc - it's really VERY HARD.

That difficulty aspect seems very good. Most games are easy even in the "hardest" mode.

Btw, do you know how much it costs? In euros or dollars, doesn't really matter.

Thanks :)
