Hey Everyone, This seems like a simple question and sorry if the answer is out there, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. What is the point of Qualify 1? It doesn't seem to have any bearing on starting position, thats all Qualify 2. Is it just to see where you are sitting compared to others? If so could I just tank Q1 to throw people off?

You're qualifying time is Q1 + Q2. So it is equally important as Q2.

And also: Q1 = Selection of tyre in Dry; Q2 = Defines start fuel.

So thats what I initially assumed about it being q1 + q2, but I just looked closer when I had a guy finish about 4.6 seconds back on q1 putting him in 15th of 16. On his Q2, he had a good lap, 2.5 seconds back, and he qualified in 5th, I can't see any addition here. I didn't go through every person, but a quick look and addition in my head showed me that his combined times were much higher than several of the cars he qualified ahead of.

The time that you see here:
/gb/StartingGrid.asp
is the lap time from Q1 added tothe lap time from Q2. Check whichever player you want, you will get the right sum.

Aaaaah, well thank you, thats why I post in the newbie forum! I was thinking the qualify 2 results were the starting positions, now it makes sense that he's in 12th (one position ahead of me dammit!)

Sorry but that can't be true. Q1 + Q2 = Total time and total time defines the starting grid.
Should it concern last race then you can still look it up before next race update yourself.
