A pro-Russian and anti-NATO demonstration was held in Helsinki today.
8 people showed up.
P.S. Nobody interfered and they weren't dragged away by police. Take note Russia, it's possible.

Israel said yesterday that it is helping Ukraine much more than it claims in public space. Iran's military installations are now on fire. Probably just a coincidence.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at yesterday's Cabinet meeting on the terrorist attacks in Jerusalem: "Our response will be strong, fast and accurate. Whoever tries to harm us, we will harm them, and everyone who helps them."

upd: It is obvious that against the backdrop of a special operation by the Israel Defense Forces, rebels have become more active in Iran. I caught myself thinking that even in Iran - where a brutal dictatorship with the death penalty is established - there is an opposition and people who are ready to resist the regime.

An article in Le Monde: https://www.lemonde.fr/un-si-proche-orient/article/2023/01/2... The anti-Semitic temptation of Russian diplomacy: “Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is multiplying the nauseating comparisons between Hitler and Zelensky, and even between the Nazis and Western democracies, in the name of their support for Ukraine.”
“Connoisseurs of Moscow’s arcana attribute this verbal radicalization to sanctions against Lavrov’s daughter-in-law, who has been living in a high-end London neighbourhood since March 2022.”
Asked in May 2022 by an Italian television about the Jewish origins of the Ukrainian president, he replied: What if Zelensky is Jewish? It doesn’t change the presence of Nazi elements in Ukraine. It seems to me that Hitler also had Jewish blood.” He added, “Some of the worst anti-Semitists are Jews.” The head of Russian diplomacy thus takes up a conspiracy fable in vogue in negationist circles, a fable that, as usual, continues to spread despite the categorical denials of historical research.”
Such an algarade is causing an outcry in Israel, where the director of the Shoah Memorial, Dani Dayan, calls it «delirious and dangerous». The head of Israeli diplomacy, Yaïr Lapid, denounces “outrageous, unforgivable remarks and a horrible historical error”, adding that the Russian ambassador to Israel was summoned for “clarification”.
Sergei Lavrov, far from amending himself, persists and signs in a statement of his ministry: We have paid attention to Minister Lapid’s anti-historical statements, which largely explain his government’s decision to support the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev. Unfortunately, there are examples of Nazi-Jewish collaboration.” Claiming that “Ukraine, by the way, is not alone in this case,” Russian foreign affairs this time accuse Latvian President Egils Levits of having Nazi sympathies, despite his Jewish origins.”
“About ten days ago, Lavrov launched a new diatribe against Western democracies, which, by supporting Ukraine, would have launched a “final solution to the Russian question”, comparable to the extermination of European Jews by the Nazi regime.”
“The provocations of the Russian foreign minister … are also part of a context of state harassment against Russian Jewish institutions. The chief rabbi of Moscow, Pinhas Goldschmidt, had already been forced to take refuge in Israel for refusing to support the invasion of Ukraine, which he described as a disaster for Russia and for Russian Jews.”
In July 2022, it is the Jewish Agency that is threatened with liquidation by the Russian Ministry of Justice, sowing unrest in the entire community. Since the administration’s grievances were never explained, hearings on this file are regularly postponed, currently until the end of February. In the face of such relentlessness, unprecedented since the fall of the USSR, Minister Lavrov’s statements resonate in a sinister way inside and outside Russia.”

At the end of 2022, the banking sector of the Russian Federation showed the worst result in the last seven years. The profit of Russian banks has collapsed by almost 12 times, from 2.4 trillion rubles in 2021 to 203 billion in 2022.

Unfortunatly that is what you get when you say in the news when you are going to deliver, you would have to be stupid to wait to launch a new attack until the weapons arrived.
And no i am not saying i agree with a new attack.

A hastily launched attack for which the Russians are ill-prepared could prove to be an irretrievable disaster. It may start well, but the proof will lie in how it ends. The fact that the attack is expected does not bode well for its success.
Unfortunately, either way it goes a lot more people are going to die.

Quote ( Denny Holt @ January 30th 2023,15:57:53 ) Unfortunately, either way it goes a lot more people are going to die
Very unfortunate situation, this war just like any other should never have started in the first place. But now with Putin still in power it will not be stopped even when everybody knows he has lost this war he will continue and massacre more people! Ukrainians all of them innocent and Russians some of them innocent!?
Putin played his best cards and he lost! Whatever he does from here on will put more shame on the Russian people, for decades if not centuries to come.
My greatest admiration to the people of Ukraine and their leader Zelensky! He is there at the level of the great leaders in wartime, Churchill and Roosevelt.
This madness must be stopped!

Despite the futility of keeping Bakhmut, the Ukrainian authorities continue to transfer reinforcements to this hell. Today, forces were transferred from near Svatovo and Kremennaya to Slavyansk-Kramatorsk with further transfer to the Bakhmut meat grinder. It is also planned to transfer from the Kharkiv and Zaporozhye regions.
But this is not the most interesting. The most interesting thing is that the Ukrainian soldiers are not told where they are being transferred. They learn about everything upon arrival, when there is nowhere to go. At the same time, cases of "hodgepodge" transfers have become more frequent, when not whole units are transferred, but a team of different platoons and companies. Commanders give away those who are not sorry. This is probably the most massive sacrifice of their people for the sake of PR of the clown Zelensky. Bravo!

🇭🇺 Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the conflict in Ukraine:
✔️ The West has big, big problems. If Russia's upcoming spring offensive proves successful, then the NATO countries will face the question: should we send soldiers to fight for Ukraine? This is not what the American people think, but it is in the minds of a growing number of Europeans whose countries will be devastated if the war spreads.
✔️ The reality is that the West is at war with Russia and goes further every day. Too many Westerners are delusional about what is really happening and what might happen. The West may think it is not at war with Russia, but by sending more and more weapons and moving closer to actual military intervention, Western leaders are playing an extremely dangerous game with themselves, with Russia, and with the Western public.
✔️ From the very beginning, Hungary insisted on peace and refused to send weapons to Kyiv, as it does not want to participate in the conflict on either side. If you send weapons, if you finance the annual budget of one of the belligerents, if you promise more and more weapons, more and more modern weapons, then you can say what you want. No matter what you say, you are in conflict.
✔️ Instead of sending weapons to Ukraine, Western countries should promote the idea of establishing a ceasefire and negotiating a peaceful settlement.
✔️ It all started with the Germans saying that they wanted to send helmets because they would not send lethal weapons to the battlefield because it would mean their participation. It all started with this. Now we have already approached the supply of battle tanks. And they are already talking about the supply of fighter jets.
✔️ Russia could bring a friendly government to power in Ukraine if it won a quick victory, but now this option is hopeless. Now Moscow is limited to trying to create conditions that make it impossible for Kyiv to join NATO, and is succeeding in this. Ukraine is now like Afghanistan. This is no man's land. Time works for Russia, Kyiv simply remains without troops.

🇬🇧 "Army develops contingency plan to keep top-secret British armor out of Putin's hands if tanks are damaged in Ukraine": The British military wants their vaunted tanks to be used in Ukraine only in win-win battles. The Sun: The formidable Challenger 2s are protected by the world's finest Chobham armor. Defense sources say it would be a nightmare if one of them was captured by Vladimir Putin's military. Then his scientists will be free to study armor and how to defeat it. The source explained: “British armor is the best in the world. In the entire history of the Challenger 2, only one has been destroyed in combat, and that was by friendly fire in Iraq." Britain's top leadership is working with the Ukrainian high command to ensure that British tanks are pulled to safety if one of them is disabled. “The first task is to try to ensure that tanks are not used in battles where there is a real possibility of defeat,” the source says. On paper, the UK boasts 227 Challenger 2 tanks, but only about 60 are ready for combat. Approximately 30 are in Estonia, and 14 are heading to Ukraine.”

🇦🇷 President of Argentina Fernandez - after negotiations with Scholz:
"Today we had a very frank conversation, during which I was able to express to the Chancellor my concerns, my desire and my ideas on how to approach the solution of this conflict. I cannot comment on the decisions of other countries, but I am sure that I and the Chancellor most of all want peace to be restored as soon as possible, in this we are in full solidarity. Argentina and Latin America are not going to, are not considering sending weapons to either Ukraine or any other conflict zone."

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland, MEP Anna Fotyga:
✔️ Whether it's czarist, Soviet, or Putin-led, Russia hasn't changed in centuries. It is driven by the same imperial instincts, repeating the same pattern: conquest, genocide, colonization. We must remember that even when Russia was mistakenly considered a stabilizing force in Europe, it was at the expense of the peoples of my region, and my country was divided and occupied by Russia. Even then, Moscow planned to continue to “go to the West”, to export its “stabilization” in the 19th century or its revolution in the 20th century. That is why the imperialism of Moscow must be put an end to forever.
✔️ We must be aware that Putin is not the cause, but the consequence of the problem, the root of which is the authoritarian and imperial nature of Moscow and the phobias of the tsarist secret police, the KGB or the FSB. Russian imperialism has very deep roots. The European Parliament and many other parliaments around the world have called Russia a terrorist state and it must be eliminated.
✔️ Otherwise, there is no doubt that in the blind desire to preserve the “empire”, other criminals in its leadership will continue to create constant threats to their neighbors, as well as enslave and oppress their own citizens. Therefore, as in the case of the German Third Reich, Russia, as an existential threat to humanity and the international order, must undergo radical changes.
✔️ It is naive to think that Russia, having suffered a final defeat, will remain within the same constitutional and territorial framework. Therefore, the international community cannot take a comfortable position on the sidelines, but must take a bold initiative to support the re-federalization of the Russian state, taking into account the history of Russian imperialism, as well as respect for the rights and desires of its peoples. The victims of Russian imperialism must be able to restore their own statehood, exercise their right to own their heritage and determine their own future.
✔️ There are no such things as Russian gas, oil, aluminum, coal, uranium, diamonds, grain, timber, gold, etc. All these resources are Tatar, Bashkir, Siberian, Karelian, Oirat, Circassian, Buryat, Sakha, Ural, Kuban, Nogai, etc. For most of the inhabitants of the regions - whether ethnic Russians or natives - Moscow represents only war, repression, exploitation and hopelessness.
✔️ We must discuss the prospects for the creation of free and independent states in the post-Russian space, as well as the prospects for their stability and prosperity. The international community has an obligation to uphold the rights of indigenous peoples, which, as a result of Russian conquest and colonization, now exist within Russia's borders. We cannot ignore the fact that ethnic Russians, although they are the most numerous people in Russia, are just one of many.
✔️ We must know that the Russian Empire denied the very existence of the culture of the conquered peoples, often stealing their heritage. The Western term "cultural appropriation" has many examples in Russia, whether it was Mikhail Lermontov who stole the legends of conquered Circassians or the Russians who tried to separate the ethnic Ukrainian Nikolai Gogol from his Ukrainian national identity.
✔️ We must be aware that the collapse of Russia may bring certain difficulties, but these risks will be much less dangerous than the preservation of this aggressive empire unchanged. The collapse of Russia will bring undeniable advantages in the field of security, including energy, and in the economy of Europe and Central Asia.
✔️ That is why we are happy to host experts, historians, journalists, politicians and representatives of more than 20 peoples of Russia who will gather in Brussels to discuss the prospects for the decolonization and de-imperialization of the Russian Federation

“Russia wants to bleed Ukraine before tanks arrive”: The Spectator writes that heavy equipment deliveries are unlikely to help Kyiv. And the incompetent and cowardly Germans are to blame for everything, slipping the wrong tanks on the Ukrainians. “The decision of Kyiv's partners to send NATO tanks to Ukraine is a turning point in the military conflict. Ukraine's partners have now committed themselves to giving Kyiv the opportunity to reclaim its territory as quickly as possible. Despite this, it will take months of hard fighting before Ukraine can make any significant progress.
✔️Tanks designed by NATO will not be quickly put into action. They differ significantly from the Soviet-made tanks that Ukraine operates. They operate differently, have different maintenance requirements, and are about 20 tons heavier. Tanks will also not be able to change much if there are not enough of them. It will take a lot of Ukrainians trained in combat using the appropriate systems.
✔️ Thanks to the obstructionism and incompetence of the German government, Ukraine got the worst possible positive result. Instead of a large number of tanks of the same type, they receive three different types of NATO tanks, all in limited numbers and each with separate complex maintenance requirements. This will delay their withdrawal to the front line.
✔️The next few months of fighting will be tough. General Gerasimov insists on conducting offensive operations in order to draw Ukraine's reserves into defensive battles and deprive them of the opportunity to prepare for an offensive.
✔️The Russians hope that if the best units of Ukraine are bled now, they will hold the occupied territory. And in the West, they still believe that Ukraine will be able to use the provided equipment to achieve significant success this year.”

🇬🇧 Sky News: "A senior US general has privately told Defense Secretary Ben Wallace that the British Army is no longer seen as a top-tier fighting force, Defense Department sources said. "This is a service unable to protect the UK and our allies for a decade," one of the sources said. ✔️ Sources said Rishi Sunak should increase the defense budget by at least £3bn a year, halt the army downsizing plan and ease procurement rules.
✔️ To get an idea of the scale of the problem facing the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, it should be understood that: ▪️The armed forces will run out of ammunition "in a few days" if they are called to fight. ▪️ The UK does not have the ability to protect its skies from the missile and drone strikes that Ukraine is under. ▪️ It will take 5-10 years for the army to be able to deploy a combat division of 25,000 to 30,000 troops, supported by tanks, artillery and helicopters. ▪️ About 30% of the UK armed forces on high alert are reservists who cannot be mobilized within the time frame set by NATO. ▪️ Most of the army's fleet of armored vehicles, including tanks, was built 30 to 60 years ago, and a complete replacement is expected no sooner than in a few years.
✔️ Sources say that in the fall, a high-ranking American general gave Wallace and some other senior officials a candid assessment of the British army. The general used the term to estimate the size of the armed forces. The highest-level power is the USA, Russia, China and France. The second level is a state with less combat capability - Germany or Italy. The general said, “You don't have the first level. It's hardly the second level." ✔️Chronic erosion has resulted in what defense sources refer to as "empty forces", with insufficient personnel and finances to train and equip those still on the books, outdated weapons, and depleted supplies of ammunition and spare parts. The British Army has only 76,000 men, less than half its strength in 1990, the smallest army since Napoleon."

🇺🇸 Former Member of the US House of Representatives Tulsi Gabbard on Zelensky:
Our own leaders praise him and fanned this whole war that we must defend democracy and freedom in Ukraine or else democracy and freedom around the world will be attacked or attacked.
Well, let's see what kind of democracy Zelenskiy is leading in Ukraine.
You know, he not only jailed his political opponents, he banned their entire political party. He shut down all media outlets that were not controlled by him and his government.
No freedom of speech, no political opposition, and then he turned to religion, no religious freedom in this country. He closed the second largest Christian church in this country, and for what? Under the guise of democracy and freedom?
How can he be representative of the democracy our founders envisioned? It should be alarming for everyone, the direction they are going is not democracy at all. It's more like a dictatorship or an authoritarian government.

🇭🇷 Croatian President Zoran Milanovic:
Since 2014, we have been watching "someone" provoke Russia with the intent to cause this war. So here it is, what's the plan?
A year has passed - and we are only now talking about tanks. Why weren't they sent there on the first day? German and American, who will not go there at all. We will send all German tanks there, despite the fact that over a thousand of those remaining from the USSR were destroyed, the same fate awaits these tanks.
What is the purpose of this war - to defeat the nuclear superpower that is fighting on its borders? Can you defeat such a state by conventional means? What is the answer - is it possible to divide into parts? And then in desperation they will release 6,000 nuclear warheads - and everyone will cry.
Ursula von der Leyen said two months ago that 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, which means another 250,000 were wounded. If so, now 150,000 are dead. The Russians have an advantage in ammunition, artillery, an unlimited number of them, and what is the solution - to leave Ukraine completely without men? I am not the president of Ukraine, but I had sympathy for this country.
Yesterday's pacifists and fighters for peace in the West now want to drink someone else's blood, but without risking themselves personally. It is deeply immoral what we are doing as a collective West that does not really exist because there is no solution.
The solution is not a change of power in Russia. And the German tanks in Kharkov will rally the Russians even more and bring them closer to China, this is already happening. This is politically unwise and hurts the West.

|
🇭🇷 Croatian President Zoran Milanovic:
You are moralizing, and the Russians, because they are cynics, will refer to the annexation of Kosovo, which I personally support, because the international community and we have taken it from Serbia. Kosovo has been taken from Serbia, and we have recognized and support it. But when you do it once without the will of the state that owned Kosovo, that is, Serbia, before that - Yugoslavia, it was only a matter of time before the Russians or someone else would do the same.
It is clear that Crimea will never again be part of Ukraine. It is so clear that the leading German generals say it, and they said it even before the war.
Let's not make idiots out of ourselves. Borrell is involved in making a circus poodle out of Croatia, before him, Mogherini and certain Croatian media participated to a certain extent.

Agree with this much. Our western governments are way too slow and wary. Even now, the numbers sent are insufficient. We need to send hundreds. A thousand. It will happen sooner or later but the longer it takes, the more people have to die.
If only we sent everything last year, the war would be over. If we sent everything now, the war would be over in 1 year.
The way we do it now, all we're achieving is to keep Ukraine in the fight, neither side will be able to achieve enough superiority over the other to end the war.
We have to send more. Way more. Not gradually over the course of years. 2000 artillery pieces, 1000 tanks and 300 aircraft.
Then we'd be talking. And that's something western nations COULD do if they really wanted to.

Quote ( Dmitry Knyazev @ January 30th 2023,19:12:52 ) Can you tell me the dates when the Ukrainian and Russian media will announce the Leopards on the line of combat?
The first batch? I can only estimate. It depends largely on how much training is given to the crews and mechanics. April or May is my best guess.
Perhaps if they rushed the training they could see their first combat in late March but that would not be ideal.
If I knew the answer, I wouldn't tell you.
