Month of Football is currently hosted by Quentin Rieg ! --- Simplified game rules: 1. One day - one football match - every day of the year 2. Predict the winner - Home, Away or Draw? 3. Every correct prediction is worth 1 point 4. There are monthly and yearly competitions. ---
Welcome to Month of Football's thirty-first edition!
The Rules:
1. About
a) Month of Football is a simple Football (called Soccer in the US, so not the American Football) prediction game. b) In this game you need to predict 30 Football matches during May 2019, one match every day. The selected match is usually in the most famous league, consists the best-known teams or just the hardest to predict. c) There will be a match every day, no matter what. Football never stops, it's always possible to find a match around the world.
2. How to play?
a) All you need to do is post ##Join, and send the outcome of the matches. Joining is always open, even in mid-Season. You need to predict, which of the two following football team will win (aka. 1X2, Home-Draw-Away and so on). b) You can send in your predictions in PM, or you can post in the thread but everything will be public. Of course you can send more than one match at the same time, you can send even the whole month's predictions in the same PM or post. And the original 1 day - 1 match format is allowed too. c) You can even join in mid-Season, at any time through the Season. d) Once you sent in your predictions, either the Match(es) or the tiebreaker you can't change it later. However, everyone is allowed to edit their posts so they have a 30 minute time limit to change their mind, unless the match starts is about to start. If you edit after the match has started, your prediction becomes invalid.
3. The Matches
a) The deadline is the start of the match. Check the Calendar's last column for this data. b) If a team wins the (cup match) in extra time or penalties, the correct prediction is still a Draw, because only the first 90 minutes are counted. c) The match has to be finished, meaning no one would get points if a match was abandoned between the start and the finish of the match. d) There are usually multiple matches per month, which don't start in time. These are delayed matches, and a special rule describes them. e) In the research of the results and goals, and creating the calendars, sofascore.com is my official guide.
4. Special Rules
I) Delayed Matches a) If a match doesn't start at the announced time (the time in the calendar), there is a chance that the match is invalid inside this game, despite being played legally in the real world. b) If a match starts a couple of hours before or after the announced time, nothing serious happens. Players have time to predict until the starting whistle. c) If a match starts days before the announced time, it's the host's discretion to decide to either send out another round of reminders or switching the game for another one. d) If a match starts days after the announced time, the reminders will be delayed as well. The match is valid only if it starts before the end of the month. Exception: the last seven matches has to be finished before the 6th day of the next month.
II) Forgetting to Predict a) If a players misses a match, it doesn't always mean he can't get a point. b) Their previous day's prediction is copied over to the next day in case they miss a match. c) Each player can be "saved" up to three times in a month but cannot be saved twice or more in a row.
5. Competitions
There are monthly and yearly competitions.
I) Monthly competitions are the Month of Football Seasons. a) A month is from its 1st day to its last day, the 28th, the 29th, the 30th or the 31st one, depends on the month. b) The person, whoever predicts the highest amount of Matches correctly during the month, will be the champion of the Season. If there will be a tie, the tiebreaker will be used. c) The tiebreaker is predicting the number of the goals of the matches combined. You have to send your tiebreaker prediction before the first match starts, otherwise you'll lose in case of tie. You can send your tiebreakers in any time (you can't change it), but each played match means +3 in your Tiebreaker's difference. (Sending it 2 matches after the start of the month but getting the Tiebreaker spot on means you'll have a +6 difference)
TLDR:
Quote ( Turi-Kováts Balint @ May 1st 2015,09:49:08 ) Ties are broken by points scored, then Tiebreaker Difference. Then longest correct streak, then longest current streak.
II) Yearly competitions are the Year of Football trophies. a) Everyone takes part in this trophy, by joining and playing the game. Everyone's every result are summarized, but only the best 6 months of the possible 12 is what counts here. So anyone can win even with 6 Seasons' experience. b) In case of tie, the best result is what counts, then the second-best etc. The winner of the Year is the Player of the Year. c) The 2019 Player of the Year will be the person with the most points through January-December 2019.
