Are you serious? slicks + wet track + high speed turns...

No, this behavior is consistent with past behavior on wet tracks. I also chose not to pit for wets and it was a deliberate decision based on past GPRO experience. No magic here, just FOBY. :) And I won too, but only thanks to the rain in last laps.

I am only pointing out that fuel does make a difference here.

If he noticed this tyre behavior on last few laps, then it should be noticable earlier too, but he doesn't mention that. So maybe this was because of bigger differences in fuel amounts.

This is not IRL. He asked why was him faster. And it's because the difference between wet & dry was way too small. + He had low fuel, why other just loaded.

The laptimes were a random too as well. So fuel importance was something like 20% in this race.

Exactly. Clear track + no risks nad even 2,5s difference between 2 laps.

btw. i'm not fighting for anything - i wasn't even planning to make 90% in this race. I simply think that by adding Oval track to the calendar GA's wanted to attract more players from North America cause it means more cash for them from sups. (In general - nothing bad in it - it's normal that they want to make cash on their work).
Oval adds only even more randomness to the game - nothing more (IMO).

Can someone explain to me why there is even rain on an oval race? Under any normal circustmances, races on an oval will be postponed if there's rain. If you're driving around an oval that's wet, you're in trouble. Don't belive me, watch the highlights of this year's New Hampshire IndyCar race.

I know GPRO is just a game, but this is just a bit silly. Even if you put F1 cars on an oval that's wet, they won't hang on. How the heck do we even have wet oval races? It's not possible.

i think alot would depend on the construction of the tire i haven't rewatched most of the race but i was gaining a second or 2 per lap on dry tires wet track.... the penalty was the pit time to get the wet tires ...

Have you guys considered this is the shortest track in GPRO? I mean, the track is shorter so the penalty shouldn't have been like 20s. Besides, as far as I know, the game engine makes no difference between hairpins, chicanes and fast turns. Not that it would make a hell of a big difference anyway. Plus, I won the race on a smoking car with almost 1 lap distance to the second. And that's a 14-lap smoking car. Well, what can I say? I'm cool with the results. ;)

anyways stupid one.

How is it stupid?

1 - Realism is not a pre-requisite in this game; in fact if you're saying there should never be a possibility of rain on this track then realism would come at the expense of game enjoyment;

2 - if the differences between tyres were ~10s a lap in a 40s lap with an 80 lap race, then strategic options would be extremely limited and, again, the game would be worse for it.

I completely fail to see how this effect is in anyway a bad thing for the game, and it certainly isn't a "stupid" development decision. In fact, I'd imagine the variables for this particular track were given more thought than any of the other tracks in the game.

I suspect we're seeing this reaction in the forums because people don't like to be taken out of their comfort zone, which the indy oval track does in several ways.

It might be OH SO UNREALISTIC yes, but so is ''easy'' overtaking in Irungattukottai & ''normal'' at Spa and having rain in Bahrain - to my memory, they didn't cause such a huge stir, right?

I just enjoy having some variation between tracks, I'd actually like to have even more track specific characteristics...

[cries]This game isnt being real[/cries]

really ?

And there I was thinking that it rains in Bahrain and is sunny & 50C at Silverstone.

The Indy Oval race is different from just about every other track in the game in more than one way, and the way it handles a 'wet race' is no different in that respect.

We dont actually want realism do we, the BIGGEST problem with that last race is that it was in essence a lottery race. We usually get one or two of those every season, and this season it happened to coincide with Indy.

Every time we have a lottery race threads get started about how unrealistic it is and so on, and whilst we only have a wet or dry track that will be the case anyway.

If people really want to be concerned about a rainy oval race though...sheesh, go play Mario Kart and then complain about realism :p

One of the previous races at Indy Oval also had this kind of weather prediction. Just saying. I'm not suggesting it's wrong to have that weather or this track. I just play the game to the best of my abilities - give or take.

I love this track in reality, because it's a very challenging track with really nice passages, but I think if they would add it, they have to invent a new Overtaking division first, because it's even much more difficult to overtake on this track than on the Very Hard Overtaking tracks we have so far IMO...

Here's the problem I have with some people, do you people not realise that Indy USED to be part of F1? And I'm not talking about the track we saw in 2001 to 2007.

So less of F1, meaning less of the old F1 tracks? It's a game, so what's with the complain?
