How about... Think about what your clicking? If you have no opinion, don't click a thumb, if you have an opinion, then choose a thumb. Simple.

Why would you want to remove a thumb anyway? I like keeping mine, they're useful.

Give me thumbs down faggots! :D

I clicked up. Not because of your homophobia, but because of my reverse psychology.

I notice you can thumb-up, and can click on down to switch to down, but you can't remove your thumb entirely. Sorry if someone already posted this, I skim threads out of boredom...

LOL!

Perhaps it is a good idea to read OP before posting in a thread then?

I know. That is why I made a suggestion that you might want to read OP rather than ask you whether you read the OP.

Again?

EDIT: I apologize for confusing anyone, but I don't understand why it was suggested that I read the OP when I already said I skim threads. Of course it would have been better, even more courteous, if I had taken a couple more minutes to read the OP. Wasn't it obvious?

Anyway, like the OP, I, too, am sad I can't remove a thumb. However, to be honest, in a way it is good too because, like other posters said, it forces you to decide "This is good" or "This is bad" and it also forces you to decide if moving the mouse over one of the thumbs and clicking on the buttons to send across your powerful opinion is worth the effort.

But mind you that a thumb down is only the reaction of a person who lacks the guts to show his opinion :D

This has been brought across from another thread in an attempt to keep that thread on topic.

I completely agree with this Jimmy, In fact I never use them and hardly even notice them.

Mind you, I am a bit old school, I still use the old office layout. :)

Thumbs down is pointless, in a forum everyone is entitled to their views and unless you are prepared to explain why you disagree with it it simply looks childish.

Thumbs up is fine (the only one I've ever used).

The topic was about being able to remove your own thumb up/down.
Other then Mairo's reply, i fail to see how reopening this topic adds to the suggestion by the OP.

On topic, I commonly thumbs people in error when using my phone due to having fat fingers and being too lazy to zoom in properly before trying to click on things. The option to remove would be appreciated.

Ok Hans, I will explain this for you.

A comment was made in another thread about thumbs, I wanted to reply to that post. I didn't feel that replying in the same thread was on topic.

I then did a forum search using "Thumb" as my criteria, two threads came back, one is already closed, so I used this one.

I hope this is simple enough, or would you prefer that I just went off topic in original thread? Afterall, that would have been easier for me.

well, I much prefer the 3rd option:

if you would have searched just a bit longer, you might have found the origin:
/gb/forum/ViewTopic.asp?TopicId=17286&PostId=1773093#post1773093

and if you are trying to make a suggestion other then just pointing out that you don't use them that much, these may suffice:
/gb/forum/ViewTopic.asp?TopicId=20313&PostId=2405230#post2405230
/gb/forum/ViewTopic.asp?TopicId=18779&PostId=2078012#post2078012
or indeed this actual topic if you want to be able to remove your thumbs (well not the real ones obviously)

While I certainly don't think this would be a priority, is there a reason that Vlad doesn't want to implement this.

I'm guessing it is to do with the fact that people can now pay to see who has thumbed their posts, but that is more reason why a "thumb by mistake" should be able to be removed. If I accidentally thumb a post then I must decide to like or dislike it and anyone can now look at that and believe that is my opinion, when it may be nothing of the sort.

Locked.

Edit: Unlocked by polite request

Edit: Waaaaah to all you thumb downers. Feminine products are on aisle 6.
