I get where Kevin is coming from with the accidentally liking/disliking a post. Its a pain in the butt, especially when its your own post that you've done it to. Normally I would make it a dislike, just to avoid being accused of thumbing up myself.

I don't click on my own thumbs then realise the rest of GPRO can see that you're doing it and want to remove it.

Joking about mental health issues is pretty low.
Particularly as the "joke" bears no resemblance to what bipolar actually means,
In less well understood times it was known as manic depression.
The sufferer has bouts of hypermania where they are prone to excessive risk taking, promiscuity particularly unsafe sex, drug and alcohol abuse, bouts of violence and aggressive behaviour causing failed relationships with friends and family. These often lead to jail sentences or being sectioned.
These bouts are often followed by extreme depression leading to suicide.
Got to be worth a laugh.

It's a good way to start controversies too. Imagine thumbing down a post that says, "I am participating in a 5K run to raise money for bipolar disorder research. I was inspired to do it after learning that an extremely popular person in the forums has it."

It could be argued that anything that brings mental health issues into the open is a good thing for people that have those illnesses.

Shoaib is correct. It is possible to thumb-down your own post and cause controversy, intentionally or otherwise. [BTW I didn't thumb-down my post LOL.] For example, someone might see the thumb-down and feel compelled to post something like, "Who is the jerk that gave a thumb-down to that nice guy who runs to support bipolar people?!"

I think this is relatively easy to implement.

1 click on thumbs up button: Thumbs up registered

Once it is done, if you click on thumbs up button again, the thumbs up is de-registered. Very simple (and easy to implement) and no need to add any GUI additional option.

Why would it matter really? If you accidentally click... Spend time reading the topic that you just happen to be looking at? I'm pretty sure if you accidentally click up or down, it wont affect anything.

I was under the impression that if there's only ten people then the agree to disagree ratio would be pretty obvious (unless you're in an inactive team).
