You can, if you want to hire any of them right away.
Bear this in mind: If you place a proposal for a new driver you will pay for it ($500,000).
If your proposal is accepted (decided on Mondays and Thursdays) you will have to pay half the wages to your current driver. That is half the wages for the remaining 8 races.
If your "new driver" gets to be over 85 OA at the end of the season and you don't get promoted you are going to lose him when season resets...

Hope that helped :)

Nope. Contract becomes effective on Monday or Thursday, depending on when, and if, the bid is accepted.
A good solution, if you're looking for drivers for next season is to "Add them to your favourites". You won't hire them but you'll have them shortlisted ;)

Edit: And you're welcome! :)

You can already hire one now, yes.

But make sure you keep this in mind:

To those thinking that they can post just about anything in this topic and in the newbie forum (anything not helpful to the new managers), please think again before considering doing that.

Thank you! Have a nice day!

Ok.... So I made a noob error...

I extended my driver's contract through the end of the season, but want a different driver. He is still under his original deal - it says 8 races left.

If I make an offer to a new driver, in lieu of keeping him around, do I owe 50% of the fully extended contract, or only 50% of the 8 remaining races?

Only on the original contract you have to pay back that 50%, so with 8 races left, you pay 50% of the 8 races left, not the 17 on top of that

Not sure if this has been asked before? But boost laps...do they use extra fuel/lap? I seemed to get less laps from my fuel strategy in a segment I had a set of boost laps set up? Today my pit stops were lap 21 - 41 but then 59(on the last lap)? Lost a possible win and ended up 4th when I thought watching the race I had a good strategy. Thanks in advance

Wade you just answered your own question ;)

Why cut your fuel so close in Rookie? Better to finish with 10 litres than to have an extra pit!

Check the race analysis later or better still your GO data if you're using it.

Hey folks, I was thinking, since race 12 is coming up, and I only joined the season now, would you say I should just do upgrades on my car, and go nuts, since I won't promote anyway?

I can start taking spending money more serious next season. lol

What do you think?

I'd run one race at least on level one parts with decent CT risks, (remember 40 is considered high in rookie though) then perhaps upgrade after you get this race income. You only have 15m left and you might want money for a new driver, and that is key in rookie.

Changing to all level 2 will cost you 18m, I'd wait at least a race!

lol, already did the engine lvl 1 upgrade, and I'm waiting for a driver to accept my offer.

Will hold off on any other upgrades until after the decisions are made.

Theoretically you could go nuts and it wouldn't matter in a few race time, however this is the perfect time to practice managing the finances. I would advise, in general, only spend money where necessary.

Think if it this way:
Say a car part lvl 1 costs $1M, and lvl 2 cost 2M. If you upgrade that part when your lvl 1 part is 0% worn, you spent 2M on a new part and threw away a 1M unused part. Complete waste.

The best things for you to do now are:
1) practice sensible spending
2) investigate the game workings (do you know what each driver training does? If not now is a great time to spend money on something like that)
3) set up next season. Some things don't reset, so you could start next season with your best foot forward.

just use the money you have to learn about the game. Maybe test a large selection of drivers, see effects of testing, maybe try the different driver train sessions etc.

Just things which will help you learn how to play well in the future.

Can testing be used, to try and get an idea, of how much fuel/tyre I should use for the next race? Or does it not have any bearing on the upcoming race? Will that only be figured out during practice sessions?
