All translators in the site are volunteers, and their response time varies a lot, without getting into names :).

I have suggested this before, and Vlad replied the main problem is precisely, the response time from translators.

After that, I wondered why not making of the Announcements one more string to translate. The ones familiarized with the translation system know the untranslated strings appear in the original language (English) if they have not been translated. Before I could go back to discuss it with Vlad, I realized how much of a problem it could be if the translation of an Announcement is not accurate, which certainly is not possible to provide using Google Translate and, once again, found myself back at the translators point.

It can be done I guess, but the chance of misunderstandings based on a bad translation make it a risk. And it's Vlad's call taking it or not.

I'm amazed that it's not already something that is put to the translation system for the translators to deal with.

Even if some don't manage to translate it before the announcement goes live, or soon after, the English version on some languages and some translated is still better than every language receiving it in English.

I do think Google Translate is absolutely not an option.

RACE COMMENTARY

Please can we just make the effort and fix it, it has been almost 50 seasons and GPRO should be embarrassed stating that this is a supporters feature with it being so inaccurate.

New Managers who see this during the race are thinking "what the hell a simple thing like the race commentary is wrong what does it say about the rest of the Game"! .

I believe that this does not inspire confidence in the Game for new players.

Note it is little things like this that GPRO is judged on. I know some managers will say that it is for entertainment purpose only ... poppycock to that ..it is not entertainment it is blinking annoying.

I think it's not that easy. I believe the commentary now tells what the race engine thinks that has happened (except in case of randoms which are apparently sometimes wrong on purpose, at least sick in the helmet random is something else in the commentary). So it would either need removing the bugs/features from the race engine or writing the commentary based on the changes in positions.

Having said that, a bug/feature free race engine is not that massive task, so maybe it would be time to tweak it a little bit.

Not without granting you image rights for the entire thread. Sorry, Mateusz. :)

And that's not a bad idea. Although there might be the danger of the team name going outside the box. Unless the rest of it goes on a line beneath?

Or it scrolls ;)
Or auto-shrinks.
Or cuts off after a certain number of characters.

And would you need the "Team:" text? Maybe just the team name?

This has been up before.

One of the "arguments" against it has been: The post of an individual does not necessarily reflect the views of the team, therefore the team is not relevant in this context.

That said: This post is not intended to be for or against the suggestion, just stating a fact

I don;t think I would assume a team had a say in an individuals post, simply due to the team name showing. I don't blame the whole of the US for Mason being a moron, but there is a US flag there ;)

Can this achievement : /gb/Stats.asp?type=achievers&aid=224#scroll

Be changed to "Score the most points for your nation"?

I mean yeah, lots of managers will get it due to there being very few people in their country, but that's better than it no longer being possible to obtain it unless you're from Brazil or Hungary.

I like the idea but for it to work there would need to be a minimum number of managers competing from that country to make it a bit of a contest, maybe 20 or 30?

Or maybe we could change the nation trophy system. The current one is like if China was allowed to field 100 players in the World Cup while Netherlands would field 1 or 2.

Any reasonable change to the nation trophy system is still likely to lead to the same 2-3 nations winning it season after season, simply because with such large groupings of players there'll be high inertia of established managers, overall number of managers, or whatever other metric is relevant

I reckon what would make it better is limiting the amount of players that can score in the nation per race like they do in the cup. Say only the top 100 scorers per race can score each race??
