Is there any predictions on when the next season starts?

Quote ( Bernardus May @ May 1st 2014,12:43:31 ) Is there any predictions on when the next season starts? There are 5 races to go. I currently would estimate 2-3 days per race, so I would estimate around 10 to 15 days until this season ends.
However I'm not currently sure if I will have time for a new season due to job and some other things I'm involved in. But anyone who wants to manage such a thing is always free to do so.

OK - I will try not to mess up your game too much.

Bump - a little more activity needed for this race:)

End of the race 13: Congratz to Mario! Tight finish between him, Nate and Jim. It was a high costing race for the top 7, with 27 SRS spent for 7th place.
In the total points standings Mario definitely seems to have a safe spot as of right now:

Ok now in SRS saving mode... for next season i mean..!
lol
E: do we have secure spots for next season? if yes #join

I think Mario is most likely to win it, then me and Mairo and lastly Stu + Nate, I don't think anyone else will be challenging.
You never know though, Kevin a Turi might still be in with a shot :)
Will you be posting rounds 16 and 17 at the same time assuming everyone uses all their SRS? Or are you giving the advantage to the active (which I think would be fairer)

But I'd like to see people's opinion on that as well, before deciding fully.
The reason is I think this game should be less about activity (that's why I often wait longer until I consider enough people to be posted) and more about strategy.
I don't like ending a race when only 6 people have said their bid when 24 hours has gone.

I'm working on it, but I think I screwed my season. I hope Season 2 will be better for me. :)

I take it we will be able to plan for R17 knowing what we had for R16?

lol, I confused myself initially don't worry....I was thinking both races would be done the same time, and I was thinking how would we able to plan for a race that we didn't know what we'd earnt, but of course if everything you have left is used then it's simple.
Btw, in future it might be an idea, for the last race, to do something interesting...i.e you lose 25% of your remaining SRS in tax before the final race. It might encourage players to use more up before the final couple of races...else R17 is just a whoever has the most left affair...and at present that will be alot :)
or...a tax could be taken based on how many races you DIDNT submit (pm) for. That way someone who ran the whole season without sending anything, will lose some (or a lot even)
maybe every race you don't enter is 5% tax. So, if you missed 5 races, you'd be taxed 25% of your entire SRS before R17. If it was 16 races....well....you get the idea. (sorry i'm crap at explanining myself lol). Which is a bonus to more active players basically (and rightly).

1st idea: There would be no point in taking 25% off of remaining SRS, since it wouldn't change the order of the last race if everyone used max :P
2nd idea: I don't personally like to penalize someone for not sending. The way I see the game it shouldn't be an activity contest. If the game was played out ideally, then everybody would bid every race yes, but the players and the world is not ideal I guess. Those players that were inactive and have this whole SRS hanging on them. They will use it in the last race, but they won't get a good position overall because of it. I think that's a penalty enough.
Meanwhile other active people can play around it and know beforehand that there might be big spendings in the last race and adapt their strategy accordingly.
As something of an idea I had personally before is to make the game have divisions. Like 16 people are in the D1, 16 in D2 and so on. And at the end of the season best ones from D2 promote to D1 etc. (and the SRS saved from last season gets continued as well). However this would be probably too much for a silly game I think.

I like the divisions idea, maybe not the keeping SRS one if it is too complicated (all though that would be awesome), you could just have division and restart SRS with promoters and what not, assuming enough people want to join :)

WHY? :) :P =D

As another thing I wonder if 17 races is appropriate length for a single season. I thought maybe a shorter season is better. What do you think?
|
|
|
|
17 races seems fine, we're used to that being a season length.
I would prefer seeing the deadlines a bit more solid - but of course that's up to the host to be able to post consistently after the deadlines. Monday/Wednesday/Friday would complete a game season in 6 real life weeks.
Instead of the divitions with promotions/relegations, I'd prefer a tournament-style setup as I proposed earlier since someone joining after the first season is not at a competitive disadvantage to those that have been playing from the start.

I'd say anyone in the top 8 still has a chance to win... But it all depends on who conserves and who attacks at the wrong time ;)

Race 14 results: It seems it's the most expensive race so far. Stuart and Turi tied with 45 points. In this race, even 28 points wasn't enough to get a single point. Mario seem to take it slow which seems very beneficial for him.
Total score: As you can see Mario is now in a decent position concerning resources as well. It would seem R14 might have been decisive, but we will see how things will go and there will be hopefully plenty of fight for other positions.

ha, together me and Turi kill each others chances....maybe we should have communicated :D

Do you think a teams concept could work well - having a separate teams battle at the same time?
|
|

Looking at Josh and Kevin, I think maybe 50 SRS will be needed to win next race :D

Seems things have flipped on their heads... and then righted themselves again... unfortunately for some, they were jumbled around in the process...
All in all, this game is... "Fantastic!"
