I´m Rookie

I made some stupid things...things that destroy a complete race/season

Those things i would never had done when i would know them before or saw them before the race...

Like this Race:I started with rain-tyres because last time i had to start with and didnt notice that i have to put them back to normal tyres...I really thought I would have to put them always to rain because this happens maybe 1 time in 10 races...

Suggestion:Give a warning: "you are making some stupid"
and than always different what is wrong like " you are trying to use rain-tyres in no-rain-conditions"...you know like a normal driver or the cleaner in a ality would say...just to make this game not that depressing anymore...

If you weren't enough concentrated on what you were doing , then it's not the game's fault.

Well, you are the manager of your driver, it's your job to make sure a mistake like that doesn't happen. So, next time, a bit more care is all you need.

Good luck :)

If this was implemented it would hurt the game a great deal.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who wants to close 5,000 dialog messages a day saying "you are about to do something stupid" ..... and i'm being conservative on the number of those messages I think that the game would give me :P

See, like right now I want to say I agree with Winkley ... if this was implemented I would need to close a "you are about to do something stupid" message.

It would also limit the chances of human error too. Many would say that it is a good thing, but having the chance of making a mistake is also a good thing too, stops you from being complacent and keeps you on your toes. The argument of having the message about rain tyres on a dry track, or dry tyres on a wet track, will always rage on, and I just can't see it being implemented.

Plus it may be a personal choice, such as the race starting dry but 100% chance of rain in the first quarter. When the message comes up saying "you are about to do something stupid", it just seems condescending and illogical. :P

You now know that you should always double check tyres... and everything else. No need for the warning IMO. Plus starting in wet tyres with dry weather, may not be "doing some really stupid" but a good strategy in some races.

Simply use GO for collecting data. If you setting wrong tyres for the weather, it will sign it, when you refresh it.

Anyway, +1 for:

I agree a bad race start can complicate a race, but if you are fast it might not be the end of it.

And ruin a season? I've seen Vsevolod Demydov being season 40 champion even when he made a very risky start tyres choice in Race 3 that season. You are probably giving this whole matter a bigger dimension that it really has.

It was a bad race Dirk, you'll recover from it. Enjoy the rest of the season and keep learning: you are at Rookie and that is where these mistakes are supposed to happen so you can learn from experience.

Bonus: I fueled a very small extra stint and pitted 7 times in my debut race as we had several weather changes and the stints I had set did not go as planned. We have all been there once. /gb/RaceSummary.asp?group=Rookie+-+164&Season=26&Race=12

I've been talked down to a few times in my life. But I refuse to take it from a dialogue box. :P

E: I basically get though life by constantly asking myself if I'm doing something stupid. The answer tends to vary. But, its a habit that seems to work for me in GPRO.

set up the car. Am I doing anything stupid?
run the lap. Am I doing anything stupid?
set up for Q1. Am I doing anything stupid?

etc. etc. etc.

I much prefer this system to constantly being reminded that I am stupid. I like to figure it out myself. Frequently by failing. But that just makes it more gratifying in the end.

Than I will specify my suggestion:

1.For Rookies-leagues
2.You can disable the messages
3.You dont have to change what the message told

Reasons:

1.New managers will have those problem much more than manager with experience
2.Nobody should have to use the messages
3.Everybody should be able to make stupid thinks if s/he really wants

Fran, are you kidding me? Coffee with sugar is a blasphemy! If you need sugar to improve your coffee it is because it was extremely bad to begin with, and in that case I'd rather drink hot water instead.
