I am currently on holiday in Sweden and we have a cottage in the woods (with 100 mbit! ;-)), but there is no Pokemon! Not even a single pokemon is nearby!
Back home I was already level 17, but I guess it will stay like that. Yesterday I was in the nearest town and there was no 3G or 4G internet there, so Sweden should be a pretty easy country to take over the poke gyms if you manage to get internet ;). I doubt there were any gyms though in that town...
My wife is quite happy about it I guess, because everytime we went walking or cycling back home I was catching Pokemon.
So it is a Pokemon free holiday so far! Maybe if we drive to a bigger town in a few days I could catch something. I am already addicted to catching, so I need it! ;-)

The pokestops are a theory. I assume because you see a lot of people at pokestops which kicks up cell phone activity resulting in more pokemon.
I caught 140 pokemon last night at a shopping mall in Leeds. That's the most I've ever got.
So in that essence the game is making people be around other people. Which I see as a positive thing.

I bet the whole social side of it is mostly hype
When loads of people are all in the same place I bet all you see is just tops of people's heads while looking at phones. Ok so I'm sure people say hi & talk about Pokemon for about 5 seconds as a form of social lubrication but people do that online anyway

Phil, please, you musn't have heard. Pokémon Go gets you exercise AND gets you out and around other people.

Quite true there Mike. I've never seen so many pale geeks zombie-walking outside. Although I'm not sure about part geting around other people, maybe bumping into them while staring on display.

Yes it gets you around other people. No claims made about any actual human to human interactions.
Surprisingly, the biggest dipshits aren't even the ones walking into traffic with their phones. Apparently, LOTS of people ran out and bought Nintendo stock, even though Nintendo has very little to do with the game and receives almost none of the revenue from it. Nintendo corp actually had to make a press release stating as much after their stock jumped because of the game.

much like Facebook, Pokemon Go doesnt make any money.
People gamble on share trading of unprofitable companies. Your pension pot relies on this kind of stupidity. Losing money is the new red.

I have no problem catching pokemons, I find them both in town and in less populated areas. And regarding 3G and 4G, it is working just fine, could be some areas that are without 4G in the north parts of Sweden. Where is your cottage located?

Some of you have issues.
In my city alone there is a an event being held Saturday with over 1k people taking part.
If you're going to continue to gate use the other thread for goodness sake. No one cares what you think. I feel a few of you are being very ignorant since you know next to nothing about it or the social aspect.

In my city alone there will be 50,000+ people watching an episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show. THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT.

Fair enough.
One guy has caught all of the Pokemon available in the UK. What does he do now?
|
|
|
He waits first next gen or beats up all the gyms in his area.
He could catch better pokemon.
Alternatively get can join a growing amount of local groups on Facebook that arrange events, meet ups or just general walks to catch pokemon. They are bringing out trading and battles with the next update me. So this will change the game again.

I only need Aerodactyl and Snorlax to get all possible European pokemon.
Apparantly you are able to get regio-bound pokemon from hatching eggs, seen people with Tauros and shiz.. I'll wait for trades to get them easier.

My cottage is close to Virestad, somewhere in the woods there. I was in Almhult yesterday and there was no 3g or 4g connection. We will go to Vaxjo soon! I expect there will be plenty of Pokemon :).
