^^ Those should show how to calculate total fuel usage, then split it into desired amounts depending on how many stops you are looking to make

That's exactly what I did for R17 of this season. How did you know :)

It's been Sam's 'tactic' for 980 races - he's just assuming everyone else 'plans' like him

Hello,

Approaching my first race with this game. It looks intriguing to say the least. My question is kinda related to this topic.

How do I find my fuel numbers from practice. I can't seem to find them anywhere. I tested which was at a different track and am going to use those fuel numbers if I cant find them in time. Which may or may not be correct for this track. Im sure Im missing something simple. Thanks

Hi Rory, no fuel data from Practice runs,

Copied this from the WiKi page

"It's my very first race - how much fuel do I need?
Unfortunately with no data at your disposal, then your first race will unfortunately be a step into the great unknown!!! However, one small snippet of information is that it is unlikely that any race (with total distance of 300km) should exceed 280L of fuel.

Good luck!"

Just have in mind track fuel consumption level :-)

Each track uses a different rate of fuel per km. Each track also has a rating for fuel usage that will help you get a better understanding of future tracks that have the same rating. This does not mean 2 medium rated tracks will use the same amount of fuel but will give you a ballpark figure you can use. There are also a number of other factors driver related and part related which will also have an impact but early on stick to just comparing the tracks

Hello and welcome.

Q: How long will the tyres last?
A: You can get a good idea of how long tyres last from Testing. Tyre wear is dependent on the track you are racing at and the temperature, other things also affect tyre wear, but you can find this out for yourself. It is important to note how long the tyres last so you can use the data in the future

/GPROFAQ.asp#qualifying-1

As a base guideline it is unlikely that any standard 300km long race should exceed 280L of fuel.

/GPROFAQ.asp#qualifying-2

To summarize: The first race(s) may be a bit of trial and error + finding out after the race how the tyres & fuel lasted and.

But as generalization I'd advice using one of the harder compounds and 280/2 or 280/3 Litres of fuel (for 1 or 2 stops) at least in your first race, and work your way from there.

GPRO is something one might call "a long game", (some have done it for 10+ years). The first few races are probably more about getting to know about things than performance itself. Getting things just right in the first race is unlikely to happen, and given the nature of things it can be a bit irrelevant too.

It takes a while to get things refined, part of the fun is the journey :)

Good luck and have fun

If using this technique remember to work out your consumption in litres per kilometre rather than litres per lap so that you can compensate for different track lengths.
Good luck and welcome to GPRO :)

One extra question from me. Do boost laps use extra fuel? I'm assuming the answer is yes, and if so, it cost me my first podium at Baku. If no, I've got further investigating to do.

If you go through the tutorial, especially the one on the "race setup & strategy" page (tips #9, to be precise), you will find the answer is a definite yes :)
