Right, just to break the silence...
I get the feeling that there is a clear decision to be made regarding the place and awarding of Pole Positions next Season, and there have been two potential solutions to the problem. In the interests of fairness, I think it would be right to put this to popular vote.
In both of these proposals, Pole Position will both guarantee a spot in the Race to which it applies, and will itself be worth at least two (2) points.
VOTE GREEN (UPTHUMB) if you favour the (slightly modified) proposal from Greg: All Races will have a Pole Position. All those who wish to compete for a Pole Position must nominate a chosen hour on the Friday before the Round for their efforts by midnight (00:00) CET on that Friday. In thir chosen hour, they must make a sequence of posts as follows:
'Start' -- 'Lap 1' -- 'Lap 2' -- 'Lap 3' -- 'Lap 4' -- 'Finish'
With gaps of at least one minute between each post. A player may compete for all three Pole Positions available for the weekend, but they must both: make this clear in their chosen hour for each Pole Position, and; only compete for one Pole Position each hour. For example, a player may post:
'Compete for Sprint Pole 17:00 Compete for Feature Pole 18:00 Compete for Endurance Pole 19:00'.
Pole Position for each race will be awarded to the player who completes the sequence in the shortest permissable time. The responsibility for working this out, and thus awarding the points, will fall to the co-hosting Champion.
VOTE ORANGE (DOWNTHUMB) if you favour my proposal: Pole Position will only be available for the Sprint and Endurance Races, and the competition for their respective Pole Positions will take place between midnight (00:00) CET and the start of those Races, at a time chosen by the co-hosting Champion. At a similar time to the start posts of the Sprint and Endurance Races, the co-host will make a post outlining the time for the Pole Position shootout for those races. For example:
'Qualifying for the Ghanaian Sprint Race begins today at 09:00 CET'.
As mentioned before, this qualifying period will take place before the start of the relevant Race.
To win Pole Position in this proposal, a player must post 'Pole' on or as soon after the chosen time as possible, with the first to do so winning. If a player posts too soon, they will not receive a penalty, but they will not be permitted to compete for that Race's Pole Position again.
Of course, if you have any other ideas, then feel free to let them be known :)

Questions
The Green idea
You mean for example I choose to do the sprint pole at 12:30
I have to post
Start at 12:30:00 Lap 1 at 12:31:00 Lap 2 at 12:32:00 Lap 3 at 12:33:00 Lap 4 at 12:34:00 Finish at 12:35:00
for me to get pole ?
The Orange idea
It's like we have
The pole race at 12:00 and whoever posts first gets the pole The actual race at 14:00 and it's the normal procedure
The Orange idea seems easier but the Green idea looks more fun. I don't know what to choose really ..

I gave my vote for Green version.

I like the Green one - there is a chance to absolutely mess up, which sometimes happens in qualies IRL :)

I don't understand what happens when you get the pole. Does the polesitter set the houre for race or something else?

Start 1 stop (later is better then nothing)

retire
I didn't say I was gonna finish it.. plus that start might even be invalid for myself.. derp

No, but the Polesitter is guaranteed a 'spot' in the race, as it were; so if they were not able to take part in the Race proper, but fewer others did than there were points paying-positions, then they would be counted as last place in the race and thus receive the points for that, plus the two points for Pole.

For the Green idea, almost. You basically nominate a CET hour for each Pole you wish to compete for. For example:
'Compete for Sprint Pole 18:00 CET'
Or something similar. This would mean that you intend to do your Pole Position sequence at any point betweeen 18:00:00 and 18:59:59 CET. You can start it at any point, as long as you complete it fully within your chosen hour.
The Orange, yes. Exactly :)

Right, I think I can tell which way the vote has gone: Greg wins! :p
The (modified) proposal from Greg Swaney will be used to determine Pole Positions from the beginning of Season Fourteen.
However, I have since thought of a potential modification to the modification, which may allow for even more players to be counted in each race.
It would also mean that those who go through the effort of taking part in 'qualifying' but fail to win Pole Position wouldn't do so for nothing.
To put it simply: All those who successfully complete the qualification sequence (or qualify) for a given race will be counted as taking part in it, but only the one who does so quickest wins the points for Pole Position.
Under this system, for example, ten players could qualify for a Sprint Race, but only seven of those players might actually take part in the race. The remaining three players would be included in the results, after those who took part, and may be eligible for points.
However, it should be stressed that you would not need to qualify (or qualify properly) for a race to take part in it; qualifying for the race would merely guarantee a place in the results. Nor would qualification act as a bonus for those who take part in a race against those who did not qualify, except for the Pole Position points.
Finally, to cap this off, I propose a new stat to describe those who attempt to take part in qualifying, fail to do so properly (by posting too early, not completing the sequence or not posting in their chosen hours) and then fail to take part in the relevant race: the DNQ.
Sound in any way workable?

All good with me, Ben. :)

I didn't win anything. The game and its players win.
Everyone agrees that something new was needed. All I did was come up with a thought, based upon the PM that I received, of how to improve on the stagnant activity that was starting to ruin something that I enjoy taking part of :)
