He would only leave if his contract ran out. Today is the market so I suggest you make a bid on a driver. You will not be able to offer a contract to a driver with OA over 70 though because you are in negative.

Just want to thank the following Managers who joined GPRO ZA Google Groups: William, Clinton, Daniel, Gerrit, Jacques and Maggy
So far we have 7 Managers going to Amateur and alot of new blood joining - therefore we need to start helping each other...
That can easily be done using "The Group".
I'll start posting my setup and previous race info - I would appreciate it if Managers with more experience would contribute.
I know a few of you are in the same Group but that just makes it more fun :)
Good luck with Sepang!

Some general questions...
Do all improvements on cars reset at the start of the new rookie season?
I've got a really nice driver but he is very expensive. Should I keep him for the next season, or try get someone with lower salary? I have identified 3 or 4 nice looking drivers at much lower cost.

*FROM: /GPROFAQ.asp
End of Season
Q: What gets reset at the end of season in Rookie? A: In Rookie at the end of each season some of your attributes will be reset, this happens after the promotion/relegation script:
Car Levels - all reset to level 1 Facilities - all reset to level 0 Driver - if your driver is above the Overall for Rookie (85) you will loose your driver Money - will be reset to $30.000.000 Sponsor - a default sponsor is given, other sponsors are removed and all ongoing negotiations are reset Testing Points - all car character points are reset Staff - reset
Q: What doesnt get reset at the end of season in Rookie? A: The Rookie reset has no effect on the following: Driver - if below the Overall for Rookie (85) then he won't be reset Team - if you are already in a team your team membership will continue Personal stats - all your stats will remain
Q: What happens at the end of the season? A: Here is a list of what happens:
After last race Top 10 Postion Money is awarded Promotion / Relegation Script Selling of parts / Facilities to get back in positives End of Season Points Bonus Money Team Points Money Bonus for taking part in all races
*FROM: /GPRORules.asp
7. End of Season
After the last race of the season the top 10 bonus is being rewarded to the top 10 managers in every group (look at point 5.4 above) after which we enter a small break, usually a week, but sometimes maybe more or less. During this time, all race setup pages close and no further team decisions can be made, however you can still view the standings, car level and financial data. At some point following this, the end of season script will be run, which will perform the following tasks.
7.1 Promotion/Relegation
The top 4 managers in each group (excluding Elite) will be promoted to a randomly assigned group, one level above the level they are currently at. The bottom 16 managers from each group (excluding Rookie) will be relegated to the level below. Any manager, who finishes in the top 4, but with a negative balance, will not be promoted, and instead the next highest manager with a positive balance will be promoted in their place. Any manager who finishes with a negative balance shall be relegated to the division below. The highest placed manager in the relegation zone will remain in their group as a result.
7.2 Other Matters
When the End of Season script runs, the wear on all parts is reset to zero, and all your parts remain at the level they were the previous season (except in the Rookie groups). Any manager with a negative balance will automatically sell their parts and facilities at half price, starting with the highest levels, until they reach a positive balance. Managers will get taxed on money over $50.000.000 at a rate of 25%. For example a manager with $65.000.000 will get taxed as follows:
$65.000.000 - $50.000.000 = $15.000.000
25% of $15.000.000 is $3.750.000. So a manager would pay $3.750.000 in tax at the end of the season.
For managers in the Rookie groups money balance, car parts, staff and facilities, sponsors negotiations, car character points etc. will be reset at the start of every season. The only thing that rookie managers get to keep between the seasons is the driver if his overall does not exceed 85.
Points money and team money earned in the previous season will be paid to all managers.
The accounts for all managers in Rookie will be reset.
All managers who qualified for all 17 races in the previous season will get a bonus of $5.000.000 (including managers in Rookie).

Thanks, I found some of the answers after I had posed the question :)
Any help on what I should do with my driver though? This could be one of those exaples from the Newbie Guide where the driver could get me promoted, but costs way too much.
|
|
|
Well then the only reason to update car till end of season is if things are too bady worn.

Yip, that driver is a bit much. Unless he wins you plenty of races and you don't upgrade your car much during the season. Not sure what his stats are - you can PM me the driver stats and will see if he is really worth keeping.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Hennie!

Sorry - forgot to post that!
Something else...
Had a discussion with Johan about 'n long drop full of Managers busy camping in Rookie - not wanting to promote and/or sorting out finances forcing new/learning Managers up...
The situation bothers alot of Managers - I know Maggy has problem with that! :)
But it's there choice in the end (strat and all or lazy bums!).
All I know is that: "My broek se pype bewe!"!!!.
BTW Clinton: Thanks for the congrats here and in our Team Forum.

I basically upgraded ALL my parts, so everything was at least level 2 and 3 things were level 3. It cost me 19M, so I went down to -8M.
With a car that was 0% wear, I sent out my driver to take quite a few chances.
Seems to ahve worked - finished 2nd :)

I have a question though - the less risks you tell your driver to take will their be less wear on the parts?

I use risks=0 for most races, but with everything being reset in one race time I'd suggest pushing it up a bit (for the very new players anyway), and throw as much cash as you have at upgrading parts.
I ran risks of 40 for the last race, and got a 2nd place.

Dont know if i can ask this q, but my driver has 2 races left, and is busy looking for a new one, what is the best qualities to look for in a driver. Pleas help me out!
|
|
|
I've only been racing for a few races now, but I look for 1. Has he scored points in the past 2. Concentration, Motivation 3. Talent 4. Low Aggression (If we put all risks as low as possible in Rookie, then we want someone that will drive very carefully.) 5. Experience, Tech Insight 6. Stamina, though all the low OA drivers have low stamina and Motivation
If you like I can point out some of the drivers on my shortlist for you. The driver I have now is REALLY nice, but frightfully expensive, so I look for drivers that have similar capabilities, but are cheaper.

After each race the negotiations will progress depending on your results. If you are consistently in the points then you are looking at around 10 races to complete a negotiation in rookie level

I don't believe you should be looking for drivers with high motivation in rookie. If he's good he'll get his motivation up in no time anyway.

Key point really and very helpful for those guys promoting next season! Must be careful to analyse when they scored their points! If you are in Amateur and you pick a driver because he has done well then check his history to ensure that he didn't score all of his points 4 seasons ago in rookie and has done nothing since!
