Hi, i have an unsettling question!
How are the positions calculated? Isn't something like (A+A+A)/3. So if you take a look at my group standings, i've been on a downfall since the start of the season even if my results(apart from one messed strategy) were somehow consistent. This race i'm again nr.21 and looks like i'm going down another 2 positions.
Is there more to the season standings then i'm aware of?

the basic answer is that it's points first then best finish

Best result gets higher in the standings. You can be 40th every race but get 9th in 1 race and you'll be ahead of the guy that finishes 10th all races.

Whats the most recursive countback that's decided a promo fight? Has it ever gone down to OBR?

Can a guy come out and get a good finish in the first race, then sit the rest of the season so they dont chance using up equipment and/or lose money?
If so, would most points followed by average finish give managers incentive to login and race each event? Ya could scored them a 40th when they no-show and even a minimal no-show fee. You could allow a couple of drop races for the lower classes if it sounds too hardcore.

It would be more beneficial to actually race all season. So why would they sit out 16 races? Also, they would be "retired" at the end of season if having missed that many races in a row.

"Also, they would be "retired" at the end of season if having missed that many races in a row."
Ah. That would be the deterrent then. Thanks

You only get retired if you miss the final X races of the season though (X is 6 in Amateur, higher in the higher tiers). So it is definitely feasible to retain based on a single race result as long as it is near the end of the season.
Having said that, I agree with Mikael that not racing is not beneficial at all. If you don't race, you still pay salaries and your tyre supplier, but you don't get race income and your driver doesn't make any progress.

Plus, what's the point in playing a game if you're not going to actually play it?
