Topic: Weird qualifying time in rain |

Hi guys,
I've been playing this game for a while now and I just encountered my weirdest qualifying session. Im usually around 2 seconds slower than the pole sitter and usually hover around 8th. For Q2 this race it was raining so I put on the same setup with rain tyres, as of this post im sitting last in Q2 timings with 15 seconds difference. So I thought to myself i have definitely put on the wets and no way im that slow. I checked and i did Q2 with rain tyres and was wondering how has this happened. My two theory is driver error or a bug, which i lean towards the first idea. Did anyone experience something similar?

If you have actually put in the same setup from a dry q1 to a wet q2 then this will be the problem.

Maybe you have worst setup than others? Maybe some driver attribute is weaker than others?

1. Setup in "dry" is different in "wet".
2. Your driver stats might be good in dry but not in wet.
3. Maybe your enemies'(group mate's) drivers are faster in wet.
4. Temperature difference.
5. PHA track proportion against your car.

dry and wet conditions require different set ups even tho I am surprised this caused 15 seconds.

just like in real life, you should adjust the car differently for wet track. namely more downforce so you don't go out on turns, less torque for less wheel spin and so on

1. yes 2. his driver stats are ok for rain 3. same as 2nd point 4. part of the set-up 5. Doesnt matter comparing with Q1
So has to be 15s purely from set up

I used the word "might" 3. who knows unless you can hack anyone's data 4. true... just want to emphasize that converting setup due to temperature is different from direct conversion from Dry to Wet 5. every little error will produce greater error if wrong setup was used in Q2

Did you use the right tires? I know its a stupid thing to ask, but happens to the best of us. That could explain the difference
Edit: never mind I reread the post. You wrote you use the right tires

Or you spy on the drivers market every day! A lot of effort for those who don't know how to write scripts, but you would definitely get a reasonable understanding of drivers' stats as a snapshot in time.
I'm leaning towards setup, but also: how much fuel was used, and remember that drivers can make bigger mistakes on a wet track.

As Chris wrote fuel can also be the factor.

A few things to answer a few of your questions.
- Yes I know I'm suppose to have a different setup for rain and dry but I couldn't quite decipher what I need to change so to be in the safe side i dont change it (whether that being good or not). I do understand that that I would lose a bit of time but not 15 secs off from normal pole time and usually at the front of grid instead of the back
- Yes I definitely chose the correct tyre
- Regarding setup, I'm 99% certain that its fine but definitely not horrible.
- Fuel I put 70L which isn't too much cause i think its going to stop raining and starting off on dry. But i doubt everyone else in my group has ultra low fuel.

Ok guys I wrote with Aqil and took a look at his data given that my instincts told me this is a bit fishy
It seems that we actually have a bug here unless he chose dry tyres for rain. Given that he copy pasted his the relevant part this deosnt seem to be the case.
Given that we had a case where somebody had driven Q2 in rain on hards while he used softs in dry Q1 it might be worth taking a look at it @Vladimir Alexandrov (R3) if he was in rain tyres or not.
Why do I think that:
We had a race in season 64 race 5 where it was mostly dry and same temps and we had a short wet stint. Almost everyone in the team was on dry set up and the difference in rain with rain tyres on dry set up vs dry set up and dry tyres in dry was always between 16 ans 18 seconds.
Aqil was 28s slower tho which would be approx the time for dry tyres in dry and dry set up.

I don't see a bug, just a combination of driver error and bad setup.

Yikes that's just unfortunate for me then. Thanks Jan and Vlad
