He played a dangerous game

Really didn't expect him to play a standard season with Michis, thought it's just a "go with the bang" setup for an R. Pretty sure he could have still easily win the group on Dunnos and buy himself a nice treat for those saved 50M :)

saved 50M : $59.5m to be accurate :)

I've been following the exploits of William Reagan after he choose Michelinis and I have say: Well Done! I now wish I would have chosen them. Too bad that he's broke. I've looked into it and while I could probably gain funds even with Mich, I couldn't justify the $60m extra cost in pro.

Deducted a bit 'cause of probably lower qually & race prize money :)

Deducted a bit 'cause of probably lower qually & race prize money :) I come up with the rough figure of between $15m & $31m gross depending on what why you utilise the Mich tyre advantage.
(For those who don't understand gross, it means that it'd be an overall net financial disadvantage of between $29m & $45m)

Anyone who actually has no idea why William chose the Michis shouldn't really comment.
But I must applaud his decision.

WTF? You can't win a freaking race. WTF are you talking about?
Let's see... I got 10 wins, 14 podiums, 9 poles, 6 fastest laps, several hattricks, A pro cup and group win this season. All you can talk about is my money mangagement? Lets see... Group win $18 million, 135 points...that's 6.75 mil. I started the season with 20m. Sure you can save money, Brian- if you never want to win.

Thanks Tiffany. It's been fun having you in my group this season.
You guys can guess my reasons for going with Michi's all day, the answer is really simple. I had a low level car and great driver. My calulations showed that I could only contend with dunnos until I built up the car to at least another level or so. So I experimented and tried what others had failed at. My results speak for the success of that experiment.

This is what this game is all about.
On the other hand, I have to congratulate you on taking the risk and making it work out for you.
Best of lucks in Master next season.

Now to talk about this season suppliers... 1 bar warmup?
REALLY?
ugh
(but it is nice to see bridgy become the durability leader - after becoming dry perf leader previously)

Is there a Tyre Supplier history? For comparing performance from different seasons?

Yes, in your own notes :)

I was afraid that was the case :)

Is it just me, or dunnos sign is broken?

I always saw that its Dunnlop Your bad, then. The tyre name is a pun with 'Dunlop' and a expression 'i dunno'...

just noticed the prices of top Brand went up;
can we re-open this discussion ? isnt 1/3 of the race income too much for a tyre ? i know you can compensate with sponsors etc but still 6kk per race is TOO MUCH !!!! if you fail to close with sponsors you will be in a world of hurt ....

I suspect that that's the idea...only a few people can realistically afford them.
Of course, only a few people could realistically afford $5m tyres, but plenty still plumped for them. Time will tell.
I *think* I see what the admins are trying to do and i'm interested to see how it plays out.
|
|
|
Yes, this is why you pick the top2 suppliers onl if you are in Elite. That is what the Admins want you to do.
|
|
|
|
But in reality they have dropped the ball. The Q factor is still far too superior for Michi's and the gap should have been closed. That would have made the choices more interesting.
Will this be the season that elites see sense or one that breaks them even more?
|
|
|
I am willing to bet that Admins will never find a balance between those two suppliers and have a roughly 50/50 division. But I hope I am wrong. :) Surely some other modifactions would have to be done, not only suppliuer stat juggling.

They saw sense in season 17...unfortunately season 17 proved that it is always worth picking the more expensive tyre if nobody else does. Which is why, above all, what elite needs to "see sense" is a lack of ability to see what tyres everyone's picked pre race 1. That way, you're not faced with a form of prisoner's dilemma with the risk/likelyhood that whoever picks last breaks the cartel.
Since People can see each other's picks, more people feel compelled to pick the expensive tyres, and this compounds.
|
|
|
The way i see real F1 is that tyres are about 1/5th of the cost of the car, the real expense is engine and chassis, so imho would it not be better for GPRO to offer engines and chassis above pro level? And before you all start I KNOW GPRO IS NOT F1
|
|
|
Actually, not being able to see other choice would be the original prisoners dillema game. Being able to see and react is a different type of game. And it wouldn't help much, since people have past experiences and know how it usualy looks like.

i agree with this....but no one at Elite will choose Bridgerock, so the top Elite managers only have M´s (like last season)
And the other managers:
go for M´s and end up with an R. go for the Bad_Lotery Go for Pipis Go for Dunos and expect a miracle.
I Think Bridgerock should be even more competitive, and we should have at least one more choise of tyres, between Badyear price and Bridgerock price.
