Cancellara had to have a go. Legend. Shame he couldn't pull it off.

Quote ( Michael Winkley @ July 5th 2014,17:44:26 ) Cav caused that crash. Did you see him with his head jammed into an opponent?
They would have stayed up if that Europcar guy hadn't pushed Gerrans from the back.

I didn't see the same sprint. Coquard followed his lane

Yeah. On the replay it didn't look quite all his fault; Gerrans got smacked from both sides. Nasty crash though. Looked terrible in real time for Cav, and the replay looked bad for Gerrans too.

Cavendish should be disqualified after this stage if he doesnt retire...

Who went down with Cavendish and Gerrans? Was it one of the Cofidis riders?

I saw Mark hitting Simon with his head, dont think the cofidis rider has anything to do with him...
What is the extent of Simon Gerrans' injuries?

Quote ( Ivan Silva @ July 5th 2014,22:50:54 ) I saw Mark hitting Simon with his head, dont think the cofidis rider has anything to do with him...
He felt afterwards over Marks bike.
@Arshad
Gerrans is ok, he will start tomorrow, but probably wont be fighting for high places due to his minor injuries.

A couple of years ago Mark Renshaw was disqualified for hitting another guy with the head to allow cavendish to win the stage (they were on htc then)... Cavendish should have already been dq'd last year after hitting Veelers in the stage before 1st time trial and should again have been dq'd... But i guess that would be bad for business, sponsors pay too much to the organization so he stays in...

**If Gerrans doesn't start**
Out Gerrans In Kwiatkowski
If Gerrans starts, no change
Sorry- time zone issue. I'll be sleeping when they start.
Cavendish seems to be out of the tour, apparantly he dislocated his shoulder.
Breakaway winner of stage 2 IMO. Nice short categorized climbs means that the peloton is unlikely to be massively organised. Time for the French riders to kick some butt.

Quote ( Gasper Mozek @ July 5th 2014,22:12:50 ) Who went down with Cavendish and Gerrans? Was it one of the Cofidis riders?
It was Julien Simon from Cofidis and his left hand isn't well
Unbelievable. Cavendish took out two of my riders, almost three including Coquard. :S
When will they learn that Nibali always attacks on/after a descent near a stage finish? Great race to watch today.
Quote ( Michael Winkley @ July 6th 2014,17:33:39 ) Great race to watch today. Only last kilometres imo. Sagan was eager to close every gap and so he lost in the end, too bad Kwiatkowski didn't join Nibali, he keeps finishing in places 3-5 but lacks wins :-(
I will never understand though, why these guys continue to just give time away.
Today, Nibali breaks away for the stage win, but is content to sit up in the last 100 meters, and pat himself on the back and let the time gap shrink to just :02, when he could have easily have held onto a :06 or :05 advantage. He's going to want those seconds later, but today, he'd rather celebrate early.
You ride hard for five hours. What's another 15 seconds of pushing to maximize your advantage?
Happens all the time, and I just don't understand.
He went for winning the stage, not for the time. Maybe he doesn't think those seconds will count.
