How can you tell the difference between a random and parts just wearing out. So tire puntures and feeling sick in his helmet our randoms but heavy oversteer would be wings wearing out.

wear = you start smoking
random = no warning and (if selected) immediate pit/retirement

You can start smoking after a random as well. Could be of the hey look you get 99% wear on this part now variety. Generally a random will put you into the pits for an unscheduled pit stop. Though there are obviously race ending randoms as well (aforementioned tyre puncture among others).

Almost always you will know if it was a random or if it was a part wearing out on the race analysis screen after the race. If it says for example the suspension broke and made the car undriveable, that would be a part wearing out. On the other hand if it said something like, your donkey driver decided to answer his cell phone or something else equally stupid, its a random.

I have noticed a far greater number of driver mistakes, not only from my own driver but on the whole of this group that I am in now. It seems that people might finally be getting penalized for running risks higher than their drivers should be able to handle. Being I think a driver mistake is the lowest form of a random incident they seemingly are far increased this season as well.

Not all of the time, I've had randoms before where it looked like it could be wear but when you check the parts wear it's around 25%.

25% isn't a worn part at all, it ruins your race by having you lap 3 -4 seconds off the pace, yet you can use the same part in the next race, it makes no sense. Especially when It's possible to have a part last for an entire race on 99%.

sorry for the spam but, lol @ Luke's pic and alter ego.

i haven't seen anything different with randoms. more driver mistakes, which is because of the tyres. if you count those as randoms, than yeah i guess there is an increase lol

From my understanding, randoms can be classified into 4 groups:
1. You're an idiot
2. The game's being idiotic
3. Pure randoms
4. Not exactly pure randoms - You caused the randoms

For the 1st one, it occurs when you decide to see what happens when your the wear of your car parts is 99%. Obviously the car starts smoking and you're out of the race. But I don't know why some call it randoms when it shouldn't be called a random in the 1st place.

Second: Car parts can fail at any level of wear. Just because your car wear is at 5% doesn't make it invulnerable to wear. Simply put, a car part that has 99% wear has a higher chance of failing than a 5% wear part. But bear in mind that the 5% part can/will also fail is its a bad day for you.

Pure Randoms - This is definitely something you CANNOT control. This is purely part of the game engine, but you cannot do anything to go round it.

Randoms which you caused - These randoms are caused by YOU deciding to use certain risks which is NOT COMPATIBLE with your driver. Asking him to driver at 99 risks when he/she is not used to it probably caused the following random: You driver was not feeling well in his helmet and had to pit etc.

What is the difference between the 2?You either way can't stop a body part which is at 25% to break down if it just has to,in case of a pure random.

They are similar, with the exception that pure randoms do include some of those that require you to pit before continuing

To be fair there's really nothing in Barry's post that couldn't have been found by anyone in the race replay. The only thing even remotely FOBY there is the tyre compound he used, which by itself is of little value.

Hardly Mitchell. I feel anything that is freely available in the rules/faq/newbie guide/wiki & the race replay can never be truly FOBY. FOBY relates more to things that can't be found directly unless you analyze them imo.

In any case I suggest you re-read the rules:

You do realise, attacking Britain as a whole for your feeling of being offended, makes you out to be the "pathetic" one here.

Secondly - If you believe that the "data" posted by Barry was too detailed to be put up - Why quote it? - All you've done there is kept it up on the forum?

And seriously - It's a game, why get so damn defensive of someone correcting you?

Am I missing something here?

Last season I do not think that I got any randoms. This season I have had a lot already. This is annoying / frustrating etc, but also reflects the nature of randoms. The events are random and the frequency is random also.

I hope that I will get a random-free season next time.
