In reference to the disgusting person who is disliking everyones posts in the Marco Simoncelli thread, after a very young driver dies today, would it be possible for people who make new threads to have the ability to have the thumbs feature switched off. After all it is their thread.
I personally think it should go completely but if that wont happen, should I be allowed to switch them off on threads I create?
I just think it causes unnecessary problems and doesnt unite the community at all.
If someone really likes or dislikes a post, they can quote and say so, it just gives people a 'mask' to act like a dick IMO, and that cant be good for the community.

I would personally just get rid of it, all it's doing is promoting trolling in threads.

If you ask me, the thumbs up/down should only be available for the suggestion forum, despite not being fairly effective tbh.
They`re just useless and leads to disputes and controversy and, like you said, allows people to act like dicks.

Although I agree with the point in principle, the best course of action imo is to simply ignore it. Trolls love being fed so let's just ignore em.

tbh though, this would probably work as well. I doubt anyone would dislike posts for absolutely no reason if it wasn't anonymous, as they would be too cowardly to still do it.

I find to ignore the like/dislike though, it's never really bothered me to be fair, i just know the more dislikes i get, the more peoples nerves i touch ;)

I think it should be like the facebook method, you can have the likes but there should be no dislikes, I consider it a form of cyber bullying.

It adds nothing really but if it stays let the poster know who voted yes/no on their own post. See how many people still want to vote no then.

Its not facebook, but I think they have it right with the thumbs system, I personally dont care who thumbs me down but I do think its awful when people like Keeney get shafted every single post no matter what he says, and others on here, if there is one way to start losing loyal, paying members its that kind of horribleness.
Nobody wants to have 20 thumbs down every post, it can only be described as cyber bullying.
Get rid of it, before you start losing managers.

I must agree with this as well.
Who gives a -- about people not liking YOU as a person.. Most of the times people dislike a person, not the post.
Just like Keri said, if I'd say exactly the same as Keeney, I'd get thumbs up, and he'd get thumbs down.

A different idea: Get rid of thumbs and resplace them with a 'Like' button and a 'Mark as spam' or 'Report' button so the shit is deleted from the forums.

That would work if they had the balls to post in the first place :-)
The old system worked much better, if there was an issue, people would say, if there wasnt, they wouldnt and we would all move on.

The Mark as spam and report button will just get abused like the like and dislike buttons
