Didn't see that one, wasn't watching the football, but yeah that was offside, the through ball wasn't
But things happen eh? Football for you
I Retract the statement about offside for THAT move the second move was brilliant passing ;)

That doesn't show the pass from defence so how is that proof? I think you may be looking at the wrong pass too - it's the pass out of defence where the player is offside. As they ran through the Ukraine player and England defender end up level, but the Ukraine player touched the ball first, so should have been flagged at that point.

Just ignore that ramble, i didn't watch the game and went with what i saw on youtube (which is always wrong)

The Ukraine ball went over the line, but it doesn't matter because there was an offside pass just before it. So stop moaning as you lost nothing. They only had a shot because the linesman are terrible and never called offside.

What really concerns me is the fact that 2 huge mistakes were made in the same play.
PS: Ibra with the goal of the tournament so far!

for the vast majority of people CR7 is the best player in Europe, but for me, Ibra better player and a lot more useful for the team of CR7....ibra is king on the field

Well, apart from all the controversy, there is one simple conclusion we all can impartially draw from the Ukraine - England game. The refereeing was horrendous, not necessarily biased in my opinion but outright terrible, unacceptable for a game of this level. All this, while imo the most efficient main referee we have in the game currently, being in charge. Despite UEFA's confidence on goal-line officials being the solution to much of the problems we face in modern football, it seems they are simply useless. They have been of no help whatsoever. I can see no other solution for it other than the introduction of technology. This game should serve as a warning, as if we have not had enough. UEFA should do something!

Agreed. Theres been some awefull reffing during this EURO
Ibra is by far not the the best player in this competition. If you look at his side they are filled with have been players and fairly average run of the mill players.
He is by far the best player in the team and the only one with any real creativity, everything goes through him as a necessity. This doesnt make him the best player in the competition

#26-3 Surely agree, he plays, not acts.

Well, the ball was inside of course, so I don´t see why there are goal line referees (or what they´re called), the guy was looking straight at the line, concentrated, so or he has some kind of problem or he just wants to be the guy in the newspaper. Of course it was offside earlier, but that doesn´t make things right... IMO it is even worse, 2 mistakes from the referee in the same play.
About Ibra, I hate him, but I have to admit, he is the man, what a goal!

You cant compare 2 players from very distinct positions. If he´s so good as you say (which i agree, but surely no better than Ronaldo) why was he kicked from Barcelona? hmm... i remember: a bad influence to the locker room according to Guardiola.

PS: Still... the best goal so far!

wasnt this Kassai guy the Estonia Ireland game ref too? =|
still no matter what is said about the offside case, Roy keeps on silencing his critics .. perfect coach choice for a weak team like England.

some yeah, but generally reffing quality has been very good imo. Only the spaniard in match 1, this Kassai guy and yesterdays Croatia match guy I remember are ones who didn't do well.

I agree with that...I will also say that Ibra has been the best distinct forward of the past 5 years or so.

I said offside the second the pass was made, since that wasn't given it should've been given as a goal in theory, but for once two wrongs made a right, not that it made any difference to the group.

The Ibra Vs Rooney is an interesting one. Rooney is a good player but for me not world class however is phenominal whoever he plays for

Its impossible for the linesman to give that offside IMO..just look where the ball came from. There's not a cats chance in hell that he can see both at the same time.

So the offside rule is flawed and should be scrapped?
|
|
|
No. You just have to be realisitc in your expectations of what will or won't be given offside, and accept that sometimes mistakes will happen. Such expectations don't extend to a guy paid to stand 5 yards away from the goal line, sited there specifically to adjudicate on whether the ball has crosses the line.

I´ve just realised something very interesting. As Michel Platini wants a Germany vs Spain at the final.. who will he cheer for on Saturday? What a loser!!!!!

Ref sucked today. Poor Ukraine, i hoped you will get into play off.

In other words, the goal was more obvious than the offside.
But I had a faint idea when I saw the replay and thought that it looked like offside...

he run almost from his own side :)) I think they forgot to buy also the 5th referee :))

Quote ( Milenco Ieremici @ June 20th 2012,00:10:34 ) he run almost from his own side :)) I think they forgot to buy also the 5th referee :)) They could just buy a TV, then they need a ref, someone to hold up numbers and someone watching TV!

Quote ( David Jundt @ June 20th 2012,00:10:24 ) But I had a faint idea when I saw the replay and thought that it looked like offside... Indeed, but a "faint idea" on a "replay" from a much wider viewpoint, makes it almost excusable to have got that decision wrong. No replay was needed to see the goal, especially not from 5 yards away, in the same way as the England goal a couple of years ago was obvious without a replay.

Out of the two decisions i'd say the harder one to judge was terry's clearance that 5th official however close had what 0.050 timeframe of it being over and remember the whole ball needs to be over I wouldn't of wanted to call I don't think any of us were 100% the ball went over so I thinkwere maybe being to tough on him we need goal-line technology

I know its always easy to referee a game from your armchair but the line official has to see that, I mean he's got the post right in front of him, then on the other side of it the entire ball & John Terry's foot .... I mean .... come on.

I mean .... come on. You watched it five times in slow motion. He saw it once at full speed and as Michael said it was not over the line for very long.
