I just realized that the track is actually called the Red Bull Ring, instead of the A1-Ring :)

Obviously Red Bull want to emulate the famous Milton Keynes circuit with their concrete cows.
I haven't figured how to upload pics to posts as proof

I went to Austria last year with Hubby Dave ! What ever you want to call the track !
For General admission .. It was the best track by FAR to visit ! and we have been to loads ! (Monza this year) Any body any tips !!! The "fan zone! " is fab and Red Bull put on a fantastic "fan" event ..
Stand/ sit on bank at the track top,, And you can see everything but the pit straight ! Fab-u-lus !

I just wish Ferrari would win a race so we can stop hearing about how the next race will suit their package... and then watching them fail miserably.
Same story every week, people need to stop drinking the Ferrari koolaid.

Problem is that Pirelli change the tyre tread this year to be thinner, because teams were complaining about overheating. Which one team was advantaged by having these thinner treads last season in Spain and France??? Mercesdes, a team that historically could get heat in the tyres but now easily can because of the bigger operating window

*yawn*
The one thing on the entire car that's the same for everyone is of course the reason why the only team with clear preferential treatment (only team with veto rights) can't win. Yep that's it, Ferrari is being held down by the series.
Ferrari made a poor choice in car design (low downforce) and therefore cannot get heat into the tires. Last few years mercedes had the lower downforce car of the top 3 and struggled with getting heat in tires (red bull, the higher downforce of the 3 has never had that issue to any extent).
Now merc decide on a higher downforce design.... ferrari decide on a lower downforce design ... and for some reason the lower downforce design once again has issues with tires.
Not an F1 engineer and it's more complicated that of course ... but come on.

Side note, nothing to do with the Austrian GP...
Anyone hear about Ticktum losing his Red Bull junior programme spot? Can't say I'm surprised considering he was a massive wanker, but at the same time I am surprised he ended up doing so badly in the Japanese Super Formula considering he wasn't that far behind Mick schumacher in Euro F3. Not that there were any other significantly reputable names in that series anyway.
I'd much rather seen Jack Doohan or Harry Thompson be the next young'uns in a toro rosso anyway.
E: for something on topic, a Merc win this weekend matches the all time record for consecutive wins for one team (Prost/Senna at McLaren 1988)

Super Formula doesn't always get the credit it deserves I think. It's a tough series with good and experienced drivers. You don't go there and win races right away. But Ticktum, yeah, good riddance. Some say Norris or Stroll are spoiled brats, but that guy...

Quote ( Sherry Sunderland @ June 28th 2019,14:48:06 ) (Monza this year) Any body any tips Monza 2014 was my first full F1 weekend (been to a few quallies and race days separately at Silverstone).
We stayed in an Air BnB in Milan (wonderful city btw) for the weekend and got the tube to the train station, then from Milan station to Monza, and finally a designated shuttle bus to near the track. From where it parked, it was another 30 minutes walk to the actual track, so we actually found that getting a regular bus and entering from a different side was a little bit quicker, if more expensive.
Generally it was quite an expensive trip to and from the circuit, and the travelling was long in the heat (about 2 hours from residence to track), so I definitely recommend camping if there is a camping site. I think there is.
As for spectating, I highly recommend getting grandstand tickets. We didn't and from thursday to sunday we didn't find one location around the track which was good for viewing the racing and wasn't a grandstand, as it's a very flat circuit and there aren't many banked spectating areas to the sides. They did open up the grandstands on the Friday and Saturday for non-F1 events so it was nice watching the GP2 at Ascari from a height. But for the race, there was 1 very small, free grandstand on the exit of the final corner that they opened up for poor people like me and my friends. It was an ok spectating area, better than nothing, but a grand stand would've been perfect. It also actually turned out to be one of the first areas to be opened for spectators to enter the track and go to the podium after the race so that was convenient. Got nice and close to see Massa on the podium :)
It was probably my least favourite F1 event though. It was a great holiday but pretty low down on the spectating for me. But it definitely could've been better in hindsight.

Shame for Vettel. Nice Q session tho, was quite exciting.
What's with the "it was a nice result for the other car" from Seb? Why can't he bring himself to actually say his team mate's name? :)

This race has potential to be the best one of the season yet!

Quote ( Stefano Scanzani @ June 30th 2019,18:09:20 ) So does verstappen deserve a penalty or not?? think Verstappen himself already provided the answer: if this is ‘t racing, then we (drivers) better stay at home.
In my humble opinion he is right

Quote ( Jasper Coosemans @ June 30th 2019,18:14:12 ) Of course not, does anybody seriously think he does? Well, Leclerc thinks so, but besides that haven't heard anyone make a case. Quite hard to see this from a neutral point of view as Dutch :-)

Quote ( Stefano Scanzani @ June 30th 2019,18:09:20 ) Entonces, ¿verstappen merece una penalización o no? Yes
|
|
|
Does Verstappen 'Deserve' a penalty. Definitely Not. Should he get one? - Absolutely.
The FIA have absolutely spoiled this year by leaning on the side of 50/50 incidents. And if they are to remain consistent then they must give the penalty.
The FIA are in a lose lose situation here.

Quote ( Andre Verhoek @ June 30th 2019,18:20:04 ) Well, Leclerc thinks so I heard he said it was racing and stewards need to make decision.
Quote ( Stefano Scanzani @ June 30th 2019,18:09:20 ) So does verstappen deserve a penalty or not?? No he doesn't... I also think Vettel did not deserve those 5 sec in Canada... So would be correct if none would of gotten penalty or now should get also both...
Race was good and i hope to see more like that... So all we need to do is to eliminate Mercedes and we can have good racing :D

Race was OK, maybe if Crofty wasn't his hyperbolic self and there was no DRS it would have been better.
