Russell said the qualy could be chaotic due to the strong tow effect here. We will see.

LOOOOOL
Well how to put this, at the end of Q3 no one wanted to be first so they waited for the others so long, 7/9 drivers got the checkered flag after their warm up lap.
A bit farcical, so penalties to come?

I think Hulkenburg might be in for a penalty for this, he cut the first chicane, flip flopped around next to Sainz then blocked Hamilton. I hope he doesn’t but I can’t see anyone else taking something for it.

Personally I think comments about Q3 @ Monza should be in the joke thread 😆 I mean that was farcical. All the technology they have and the money put into it. How could they stuff up that badly ??
Edit; Fully agree Graham. Especially when we sit up past midnight to watch it in our time zone. Absolute BS.

What an insult to F1 fans, that was ridiculous. All the teams should receive a large fine for that stupid display, completely unacceptable :(

Easy solution.. For circuits like Monza where it is likely to happen, bring in qualifying races where they start in reverse championship order... Do away with the Mexican standoff we suffered today...
We may even get some money put into building cars that can overtake.....

What a flop... :D
Shame that there was no las lap battle but it's more of a joke than to be sad or to be mad at...

Mahaveer Raghunathan has just scored points in F2.
Yup, this happened :P

I agree there should be some kind of penalties for this joke.
Hulkenberg, Sainz and Stroll have all been requested to see the FIA Stewards for allegedly driving unnecessarily slowly during Q3. and probably they will face a grid penalty.
Hulkenberg said Everybody starts slowing down, that’s the thing with nobody wanting to be first on the train. That’s what you get.

I've always maintained that I'd love to see a completely separate Q3 tyre to the other tyres. Since all racers start the race either on their Q2 tyre or a chosen tyre below 10th, and all drivers in Q3 get given an extra set of tyres anyway, I don't see why they can't make that a completely different, Q3-specific tyre.
I'd love to see a tyre than is fast, doesn't run a risk of overheating, and keeps enough good rubber for the duration of the 10 minute session. Then it'd be nice to see teams be forced to run with at least 5 laps of fuel so that every driver can just stay out and pump in lap times for the whole session. Like you see in Moto GP or F2/3.
It would be more interesting for spectaters, and would also stop messes like this from happening.

The solution is much simpler than changing the format. Just set a maximum time that everyone must stay below at all times during qualifying, measured for every individual track sector. They already implemented this for VSC (where it's obviously a minimum required time rather than a maximum), so they just need a few lines of software and it's done.

I just felt disrespected for loosing 1 hour watching the qualifies and then had to watch that...

They all got a reprimand
Why say (the FIA) that they will clamp down on slow out laps and give penalties to those who drive excessively slow to then not get one. Hamilton nearly crashed into Stroll because the drove too slowly

Hes just acting reckless because Renault put him out of a job because Ricciardo make him bend the knee all year so far.

Has Seb lost his best time for going out of track limits?
if not then i presume there scared of the crowd.

Its a Ferrari in Italy. Do you really think the FIA have the balls to that Michael.
Truth is. I watched it many times. I think the front right still had the slightest contact with the line. Weather that was actually tyre on the road or the sidewall of the tyre is debatable. But yeah, his time is going to stand as far as I know.
But that Q3 debacle. Something needs to change to prevent that ever happening again.

Quote ( Andrew Wilden @ September 8th 2019,09:21:40 ) But that Q3 debacle. Something needs to change to prevent that ever happening again. Last time they changed qualy it was even more of a mess... I like the system they have now and after this kind of a flop I don't think teams would risk it again... There will be some serious talk to drivers and teams so I take it as a messed up strategy by most top teams... not just only one...

Surprisingly fair penalties for both stroll and Vettel in my opinion. For a moment I thought they wouldn’t give stroll one, and I was pleasantly surprised they gave Vettel a stop-go. Not cos I dislike him but it was absolutely deserved. Driving into another car, whether he can see or not, is the worst thing you can do.

These young upcomers are bringing some fresh things to f1 that was so desperately needed LeClerc vs Verstappen in the future is gonna be spicy, as well with Russell and if Renault can sort that car out Ocon also, same with Norris and Sainz if McLaren can come good

Yeah awesome win for Charles. Great to see so much emotion from a driver in the paddock and on the podium. We don't get it very often nowadays.
