Hi,
I'm Brad. I replaced parts before the race with older parts from a lower level that still had enough life in them to finish a race. When I went back to put my newer parts of a higher level back on they no longer exist. Is this normal?

Yes. You only have one car part of each type. When you buy a new one or downgrade it then you cannot go back to the old one.

When You downgrade a part (e.g. from level 3 to 2), next time You will only able to upgrade to 3 (1 level up the actual 2)

So I can upgrade and keep the lower grade parts to be reused but I can't down grade and keep the Higher level parts to reuse?
That doesn't make any sense to me. The engineers are like those newer better parts should be tossed in the garbage because we have these lower level Sh!t parts.

You can upgrade once each race. You can downgrade once each race. The next race you use the parts left or you buy new parts. No warehousing of parts.

No, you don't actually keep the lower grade part to be reused,
Think about it this way (if it helps)
The higher level part is modified back to lower level
Your part was coming to the end of it's lifespan, the engineers extended it's lifespan by welding some more metal into it, in the process making it heavier (lower level) to make it last a bit longer (got wear reduction).

I think that's done plenty and people are very welcomming to new players. But new players might (be assumed to) first thoroughly read the game rules, Wiki and the page info (that button with 'i' next to your language flag) in which such basic things are pretty well explained (and some didn't existed some 10 seasons ago...)

But to lambast the Guy on a single question is a bit much..
Now is possibly time for GPRO to get new players,,
A little advise would not go a miss ..

If a part (higher than level 1) has some wear you can downgrade it to a lower level for free. This downgraded part will have less wear recorded against it, but will REPLACE your existing part (i.e. it is thrown away - cannot be re-selected at a later date).

I think that's done plenty and people are very welcomming to new players. But new players might (be assumed to) first thoroughly read the game rules, Wiki and the page info (that button with 'i' next to your language flag) in which such basic things are pretty well explained (and some didn't existed some 10 seasons ago...)
The site would be empty if every obscure detail was required to be known prior to playing. What I don't understand is why a clown would go on the "Newbie" form and get all uppidey about people asking questions. The section is not assumed to be for noobs but is actually titled "Newbie Thread". LOL keep up the good work and go pound sand.
I guess as a Noob I can't possibly imagine how fragile ones ego is that they would troll the noob thread to make themselves feel some how superior.
Sorry for asking a question that you had to actively seek out to complain about.

Wikis are not quite to read, they are more to answer your questions when you have them. They tell to read the "whole" Wiki because not letting you find out by yourself where is the entry where your answer, would be... almost sinful.
