Today my first pit wasn't due to weather change, but it happened exactly when the weather changed. It took me about 13-14s more than it should, but the crew changed the tyres to dry, so there was no reason for that extra time.

I think that's a bug that only happens if you are leading the race and enter pit at the exact moment that the weather changes.

So weird, i've been scammed today.

How can you be sure it's because you were leading the race? Maybe you were just unlucky with the timing. I'm sure it has nothing to do with you being in the lead at that exact moment (though I am not certain of course).

If you put a lot of fuel in and had bad luck in the pits then the 34 second time is also possible.

I'm unsure as well.

But i'm taking 20-21 seconds in every pit and... suddenly +14s!

Perhaps think of it this way..

Your inexperienced pit crew was set up and ready with dry tires, for a scheduled stop.
Suddenly there is panic, as it starts to rain after they were ready....
The someone shouts... rain tires, rain tires,, and the tire crew runs around trying to allocate the rain tires.
They succeed and you are back on track, but with a bad delay....

Rookie pitcrews are not coordinated and professional like at the upper levels, but you still see long pitstops there, especially at weather changes.

But, there might be a way to "lessen the pitstop panic hit" and it might just be a matter of figuring it out. :) :)

Then again, there might not be a way. ;þ

The forum in a goldmine of info though, try mining it a bit. ;)

And he pitted on the last dry lap.

Just after he hits the pitlane, it starts raining.
The panic is on...even more confusion, they even sent him out on the right/wrong tires... idiots..lol
The crew is inexperienced in all aspects,, no efficiency, can´t handle much pressure and just run around like idiots...this is rookie, right? Mistakes are made. :)

But its all fun, even though it´s annoying at times :)

i only want to say, that i saw in my race a manager with a total of 53 races and his pit was direct in lap 22 as raining starts. Pit time only 21,5 seconds. Tyres have been changed to rain tyres

seems to be elite pit crew as per some explanations....

Well it does seem unfair to have the first pit take significantly longer AND come out on the wrong tires, only to have to pit again 2 laps later.

Note I do understand why the pits take extra time and what can be done about it.

I think for the situations were the weather changes exactly as you enter the pitlane, it would be more reasonable to suffer twice the standard extra time for the pit crew not being ready, but get to exit on the correct tires.

If the OP could have spent 40-50s in the pits the first time and exited on rain tires, he would have won the race. Instead he came third.

All fun about rookie pitcrews aside, wasn't this reported a few times before?
This being: seemingly getting the stressed weather stop time bonus combined with still coming out on the wrong tyres?

I'm in Master and I had double pit as well last race. But my race was messed up by that time anyway. Still double pits can happen also on higher levels it's not a bug... unfortunately...
You should look in to race analysis there is written the reason for a stop on lap 20

Can't have that, it's a "way too realistic" bug? :)

I vaguely recall that it was identified as a bug by one of the admins, and presumed it was fixed. That was the origin of my confusion.

Within the limited parameters of GPRO realism, i'd say a stop that still puts on the regular/expected tyres either shouldn't have the added stress factor - cause the pit is done before the finish line or whatever silly justification there was/is - OR should switch to the other type of tyres, cause the stop happens after the finish line and that's when the weather already changed, or whatever silly reason :)

It happened once to me as well to run out of fuel exactly when the weather changed and to come out on the wrong tires... I must say it feels pretty bad. Honestly even if there was an extra long stop (even longer than the current surprise pitstop penalty) but coming out on the appropriate tires for the new weather conditions it would be a lot better.

so there was no reason for that extra time.

Well, its' rookie, they don't really need any particular reason for taking a long time

Basically it's the drivers dad changing the tyres while mom fills up the driver with tea and cookies :)

So it's quite understandable if they get disorientated sometimes

Check your race analysis, Sir; most likely remainder of your rain tyres burnt out in a lap or two.
