Synopsis:
Thirty-four seasons passed between 1927, when Babe Ruth set the single-season home run record with 60, and 1961 when Roger Maris broke the record by one. Yet it would take Barry Bonds just three seasons to eclipse Mark McGwire's 1998 record-shattering 70 home runs. After a "loosey-goosey" period of denial and ambiguity it became clear the primary reason for this distortion of power was the acceptance of chemistry by major league baseball players. By the late 1980s performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs)—particularly anabolic steroids—had become commonplace in every Major League clubhouse; by the turn of the 21st century they were ubiquitous, with estimates that as high as 50% of players were using some kind PED to get ahead.
Juiced is a very simple game that evokes this “Wild West” era of baseball employing you with the task of winning MLB's coveted Home Run Title. To do so, you will need to balance the risks and rewards of taking PEDs, enjoying the power they add to your bat while attempting to evade the dreaded positive test that will cost you precious playing time.
Now accepting player interest. The host is working out final kinks before sharing the rules and gameplay. There is no quota for the number of players of Juiced but will be it will pretty boring unless there are at last five challengers.

Basic gameplay:
Juiced is a very simple game. Each player represents a slugger in Major League baseball challenging for the Home Run Title. The 162-game regular season schedule is divided into 18 parts (or weeks) of nine games. During each week every player will hit a number of home runs equal to their inherent home run rate multiplied by the number of plate appearances for the set of games they play that week. The home run rate is unique to each player and is the sum of their starting base rate and the cumulative effects of all of their game actions up to that point. A player can increase his home run rate by purchasing PEDs or going to the gym but the number of plate appearances is always based on a rate of 4.42 (± 0.30) per game (rounded up). If you play all nine games that week (that is, unless you are serving suspension) you will make 38-43 plate appearances, and, in a typical season, you would end with over 700 plate appearances if you play all 162 games. The number of home runs you hit during the week is simply your current home run rate multiplied by the number of plate appearances (rounded down).
Procedure
Each week will proceed like so:
1. Week begins. Players purchase drugs, gym time, or do nothing. This is only phase a player has to do anything.
2. Host calculates each players’ home run rate. The week is simulated; home runs and heats are calculated and posted.
3. The commissioner’s office determines who (if anyone) will be tested for illegal substances. Positive results are made public.
4. Fines and suspensions are administered for anyone testing positive. Week concludes.

1. Purchases
Each player begins the season with a default home run rate of 6% and a budget of $10,000,000.
Pre-season purchase: Before Week 1 only a player may purchase a pre-season workout package that will influence his starting home run rate. [The host is still working this part out. More details to come.]
Following the pre-season purchase, and preceding each week thereafter, a player (with enough funds) may choose to purchase the following:

Gym session: Exactly as it sounds. Don’t approve of unnatural body modification? Beat ‘em the old-fashioned way! Offers modest improvement to power.
Andro: Short for androstenedione (androst-4-ene-3,17-dione), a naturally occurring androgen steroid hormone popular as a supplement among certain athletes. Famously taken by Mark McGwire during the 1998 home run chase against Sammy Sosa, now banned by nearly every major sporting league. Better than a trip to the gym alone but not as potent as an anabolic steroid.
HGH: Human grown hormone—responsible for promoting cell production, HGH as a supplement has been taken by athletes for decades for muscle growth (with dubious results) and to recover from injury. Traditionally very difficult to detect as a supplement due to its analogous biochemistry to naturally-occurring growth hormone.
The cream: A topical ointment containing testosterone, the male sex hormone and anabolic steroid. By itself, the cream offers modest muscle enhancement, but serves a valuable masking agent when used in conjunction with other steroids. Famously produced by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO) and used by many MLB players.
The clear: Tetrahydrogestrione (THG), a potent anabolic steroid first synthesized by Patrick Arnold, may be administered orally or via injection. Another BALCO product made famous by Barry Bonds. Can turn an ordinary athlete into a star, especially when used in conjunction with other PEDs.
As implied in the table, it is also possible to purchase any pair of substances together. The degree to which these substances (alone or in tandem) improve your home run rate is FOBY. Finally, It is also permissible during this phase to purchase no item (do nothing) Doing so will add $200,0000 to your balance but reduce your HR rate by a FOBY amount. All purchases are private.
2. Home run rates and Heat rating
Every player starts with a base rate of 6% and may be modified pre-season and week-to-week as discussed in 1. Purchases. Home runs are calculated by multiplying your inherent HR rate by the number of plate appearances for the week (4.42 (± 0.30) per game). This figure is rounded down.
In addition, every player will have a publicly displayed “Heat” rating that determines the likelihood he will be tested for illegal substances following the week’s action. Heat ranges from 0 to 20 and every player begins at Heat = 10. The probability the player will be tested is shown in the following table:

3. Testing
Following the posting of the home run leaders the commissioner’s office will determine who will be flagged for testing for illegal substances. There are no quotas for testing; it is possible for every player to be tested or no one at all in a given week. The league will not announce when players are tested except when they give a positive result. If a player tests positive the substance detected will also be identified. In the case of a positive test for a player who used a combination of compounds, only one will be identified (by random selection).
It is possible to get a false positive result, in which case the “substance identified” will be Andro. All players are subject to testing every week, even if they did not play any games that week (served suspension). The probability of a positive test is determined entirely on what the player purchased that week.
