Singer, songwriter, musician. Front man with Soundgarden and Audioslave, also as founder and frontman for Temple of the Dog, a one off tribute band.
Soundgarden was one of the most successful bands from Seattle's emerging grunge scene in the early 1990s. Cornell co-wrote and performed the James Bond movie theme "You Know My Name", for the 2006 release Casino Royale.
Chris was found dead in his hotel room after performing a show with Soundgarden. A rare talent. Rest in Peace Chris Cornell.

He hung himself, very selfish. No sympathy here.

Suicide is the end result of a long struggle through mental health issues. The guy is dead, and in that moment he wanted a way out of the pain.
If anyone in your family or circle of friends did that, you wouldnt say it at the funeral. Im sure direct family members would cut you off. I dont know why you feel the need to say it immediately after a tribute thread was made. That is selfish.

My brother in law hung him self.
Tell me a then ken wat is better?
Pills? Of before a train?
Hanging your self is a statment you have tought about it.
First time he did pills but you will go crazy and he callt his mom so thats why he hing him self he wants out off his live without any change to safe him self.
So please don't talk about things you don't no Ken it can hurt people😢

A waste of a life, it makes me sad that there's people taking their lives because of their troubles, depression, and attitudes from people like you, whilst people like you are allowed to go around being alive.

Very very sad news, those of us of a certain age will remember the early days of Grunge with fond memories. The Seattle curse strikes again, gutted.

He has one of the most defining voices of metal that you could instantly recognise from a mile off. Shame what mental illnesses could do to people :( RIP

I dont know and this is a best guess, but I would imagine that any person that has reached the point of taking their own life has gone way beyond thinking rationally. If there were any reasons you could think of not to hang yourself then you probably wouldnt be in that situation in the first place. The man was clearly ill, whether anyone coiuld have helped in...most likely not.
Sad news. A great loss from a bloody good band. RIP.

My issue.... was that tribute thread not sufficient enough for this? Why was there any need for a whole new thread for a celebrity? Where's the individual threads for David Bowie, Whitney Houston, Alan Rickman, Prince, among countless others?

I think that once upon a time, it made some sense to have a separate 'tribute' thread.
Now, I think that anything to breath a bit of life back into the forum should probably be welcomed. Even, ironically, death.

If mods are going to shut down threads for subjects already thoroughly covered, then consistency must be applied in this case. Consistency, however, is too much to ask nowadays...
