The greatest comeback in the history of any sports ever. To me he is the most legendary F1 driver of them all. As a team mate I also appreciated his comments about how he managed the Mercedes drivers. He will be missed, but he will always continue to be an inspiration.

Oh hell .......what a huge loss to not only F1, but Motor Sport in general. A true gentleman & a legend in his own time. I clearly remember his crash in 1976 like it was yesterday. He made an amazing come back the following season to win the championship.
Along with Senna, truely one of the sports absolute greatest.
RIP Nikki. You won't be forgotten.

A terrible loss for motorsport.
For me he's in top 3 of all times.
Persistence, hard work and a stubbornness in surviving... until now. And even now he'll live on.
I was at the portuguese GP in Estoril in 1984. Prost won, Lauda was 2nd and Senna was 3rd. Lauda was world champion by half point, in front of Prost in that day.
RIP Champion

I will miss the man, his intelligence, and his strength of character.
I liked his fortitude, but without knowing the person I think his greatest attribute had to be his truly extraordinary courage. He was brave enough to admit being petrified when he came back to racing six weeks after that horrendous crash, but still finished 4th. I seriously doubt many people could have got in the car, let alone drive it! I know I couldn't. Think about it - almost killed six weeks beforehand, very seriously injured, and whilst still injured (his head was still bandaged and bleeding) he climbs back into a machine that can and almost did kill him, and goes back to doing what he did best! And he then goes on in following seasons to win the Championship - two more times.
IMO true courage requires a full appreciation of the risks and fears, AND the ability to press on regardless. I think the example above marks him out as a truly extraordinary individual, even leaving aside all his other strengths and successes. His family deserve to be immensely proud of him, and all he did for F1.
RIP Niki Lauda.
