It’s recent form upon which drivers are judged – but at least by confirming his departure in mid-September Ferrari has given Massa a chance to shine.
Since the shackles have come off, Massa has out-qualified Alonso in four out of five races – an impressive achievement, although one dismissed by Alonso, who claims his own preference for race set-up choices has made the difference.
Indeed, in races, Massa has still failed to match Alonso – taking 27 points to the Spaniard’s 48 and finishing in an average position of 7.4 compared to Alonso’s 5.6. His average points per race since the announcement has, in fact, gone down and in Japan, Massa even ignored team orders and forced Alonso to fight past in his bid to impress.
Unlike Rubens Barrichello, who left Ferrari with a Honda deal already signed, Massa has no firm future, much like Heikki Kovalainen had nothing fixed when he left McLaren in 2009.

Massa is a good driver but I think he lost alot when he got hit in the head by carpart from Rubens car and crashed.. He make simplier mistakes now and dont seem quite as fast as he was before.. Maybe I am wrong

for the price he costs...No, there are far better drivers than him on the market and much cheaper.

A 2008 Massa...yes.

That shows , Massa still has got it in him to do well, so please a seat in a competitive team as a No.1 Driver for him , before making any coclusions like this :)

Ferrari tribute to Massa at Mugello
Ferrari paid tribute to its outgoing Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa by dedicating its season-ending World Finals to the Brazilian on Sunday.

"Felipe has been a true Ferrari man and he will always be part of our history. I wish him every success, starting with the last two races of this championship. He will always be part of our family."

Yep, massa is going to Williams.

With the new rule changes, maybe Massa can now get back to his pre-2008 self :D

I doubt he'll be back to winning races with Williams... though perhaps outscoring his team mate will be good :) if a Williams can even get points...

Felipe Massa is fighting for his F1 survival after being sidelined by Ferrari – but what are his best options and what can he do to convince teams he is still worthy of a place on the grid?

Wake up and smell the coffee,,this is a proven driver that most teams will be only to happy to drive for them.

it is only my opinion, but i think Massa has a good 2 or 3 seasons left in him,,, and given the right team and car i think he will surprise the doubters

He is on a multi-year contract with Williams so that's at least 2, unless they ditch him for underperforming which I hope they don't

Massa in Monza for a farewell.

This just shows what an excellent CV Massa has but at least 90% of those stats are from BEFORE he had his accident in Hungary and was in a coma.

People say that Maldonado has been erratic and I agree that he has been so, especially in 2012 when he won a race and when he was awesome in Singapore too (front row qualy) but he also had some brain fades on several occasions.

But this year Massa made more driving errors as Pastor who only retired with an accident once that was his own fault in Australia, the first race. So I'm not so sure if Massa is an improvement over Maldonado. I don't doubt that Massa is a better teamplayer and stronger in finding a set up or technical feedback. But in terms of pure speed over 1 lap and raw agressive pace I'm pretty sure Pastor is quite a bit quicker.

But nobody calls Massa erratic but I think he has been not only erratic but also underperforming in that Ferrari for the past 2 seasons.

Anyway, I just really hope that Massa will feel rejuvenated and that we see his old form, from before his accident, again otherwise it will be a waste of a good seat. Recently his form has improved, Williams could be the right environment for him to show that he still is worth it.
