Premise
GPROvision is a simple and great game for any GPRO manager who likes music. It is loosely based on the Eurovision Song Contest; first the players submit songs (= their YouTube links) and then all the players will vote for which is the best song of the lot in their opinion.
This edition shall contain five rounds, so you will have five chances to impress the other players. All credit for creating the game goes to Koen de Heldt and Gunter Bosman.
Rules
- Any GPRO manager can join, you just need to post ##Join to enter the game. All deadlines will be on Fridays at 20:00 CET. - Round 1 will start on Friday 12th June at 20:00 CET and the first deadline will be Friday 19th June at 20:00 CET. - Each of the five rounds will have some specific restrictions and a theme, but more about that later on... - Each round will last about one week, so as soon as one ends, another round will start soon after. So during that week you should be voting for the songs of "last week" and finding a new song for that "current week".

General rules:
Each of the five rounds will have some specific restrictions too, but here are some general restrictions for ALL rounds:
1) The song you submit must have not appeared on previous GPROVision editions, which can all be found in the link below https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P1Pd39ylKWxDrHExAnm8... 2) It must be a "proper" song, not e.g. a home video of some random guy playing a trumpet (aka the “Daniel Bassett” reference) 3) Only one song per player/round 4) Songs are allowed to be submitted on a first-come, first-served basis 5) DO NOT reveal which song belongs to you, we want to keep it as anonymous as possible before the results are revealed!
NEW RULE
6) For this edition only – each round you must submit a song from a different genre of music, as per the following list (taken loosely from this site https://www.musicgenreslist.com/ ):

You must declare which genre your song belongs to in your PM. 5 rounds = 5 different genres you will need to choose.
Voting:
Voting is done by PM'ing me when we get to the voting stage (=next week). Every round you need to vote for 10 songs and give them round points in order of 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. You cannot vote on your own song. If you do not vote, your song will get subtracted 18 round points!
Scoring:
To avoid confusion: ROUND points = all the points you score from other players voting your song STANDING points = points that you score by finishing in top 14 of a round, final standings are calculated based on these points
In some of the previous editions scoring has been just the sum of all gathered ROUND points - but for this edition a different scoring method is used. The top 14 of each round will score STANDING points going from highest to lowest: 20-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. All ties, either inside round points, or in the final standing points, will be broken by the higher number of 12-point votes received, then 10-point votes etc etc…

The GPROVision Cup!
The Top 16 players from Round 1 will go into the GPROVision Cup - where they will compete in a straightforward knock-out tournament in the remaining 4 rounds.

Positions in Round 1 will determine the seedings for the Round of 16 (i.e. 1st place will play 16th place etc etc).

If someone puts in a song that is obviously not in the genre they named? What if it is very loosly in that genre because we all know everyone will not agree on genre because some music can fit multiple genres. What is the penalty? Is it up to judges or voters?

All that is usually up to the judge. If the player can argue their point, they are usually lenient enough to accept it.

It will be down to the judge (i.e. me) to determine what is allowed to be submitted and whether that is in the genre the player has claimed (within reason). I will be looking for common sense to prevail though!

My ears couldn't handle most of the modern genres and I think I would throw up violently, not to mention the task of looking for a song in some of the genres...so most likely not at this time.

There are only 5 rounds - so you only need to pick 5 songs from your 5 favourite genres (if you like), and I doubt anyone will pick New Age songs...certainly not at the same time!

Using https://www.musicgenreslist.com/ as a guide, Bluegrass is listed as 'Country'.
Whether you agree with that or not, that's the guide I'm using! :)
