At the beginning of Season 64, it was announced that the Indianapolis Oval would be run at its full length of 200 laps. Now, it is the 2nd race on this season's calendar, and already the anticipation begins to rise. The biggest questions on my mind are tyres and fuel, for there is no way 180L is going to last the full 500 mile/804.4 kilometre distance. What was once a mandatory 1-stop only race is now 3-stops or more. We've been made aware that the part wear is being scaled to be roughly equal to previous races at 80 laps, but it can't be possible that the same has been done to driver energy, fuel consumption, and tyre wear. It will be most interesting to watch this race on the new live race viewer, for it certainly can't be more boring than actual IndyCar races or some F1 races lately, right?

Only if the pace car doesn't crash like today at Detroit ;)
Think tyre wear, fuel useage will stay the same. Making hards or - in the right temps -mediums inevitable whatever tyre brand. Just like before.
DE should be / is expeted to be scaled like car wear. But I won't be surpised if we're surprised there ;)

What if, instead of IndyCar races, we have Formula E races? More one stop races!
But in all seriousness, while its a nice touch that they made it the actual race distance, I think they should just scale all the races to F1 distance.

Then very high fuel consumption and low tyre wear means something totally different if this is the case.

I'm really looking forward to this. However I have already looked into things, can't see any scenario under which still doing the least amount of pit stops pays off, unless temperatures are below zero.

No one will mess up their strategy, anyone who's been playing this for a while will be able to work out what tyres will last them 50 laps and stick those on.
