Hello dear GPRO fanatics!
Do You often dream about being in Elite one day? Do You want to know what feel and think the guys fighting for the Elite Champion name or the managers who use all possible methods to retain in the hardest group of the game? You have no idea how hard it is to get a sponsor in Elite or why the Michelini tyres are not used there this season? You might find the answers for these and more questions in this thread in the nearest future! I’m presenting a new project called “Elite Press”
You will find a lot of short interviews with many managers from Elite group, with their opinions about upcoming or past races, results, their personal experience and even more interesting stuff between almost every race in this thread!
To begin, let’s start with a great guy, Elite old-timer, current championship leader – Leandro Sereno:
You might be the first manager to get 5th Elite trophy very soon. While watching last races of the season, does it make You nervous more now or when You were fighting for the first trophy? Or maybe watching races doesn't bring You any emotions anymore?
Leandro: Every new race is a new emotion. When this feeling is gone, I will retire. But of course, the first trophy was more exciting for obvious reasons.
The start of the season seemed to be perfect for You and it looked like You are going to have a very easy season but from race 8 something changed, didn't it? What happened?
Leandro: Well, if you look this season retrospective you gonna see Its almost a perfect season for BY tyre, since this is probably the rainiest season ever and we had just 2 races 100% hot and dry, my luck is that my driver is very good on wet track. So, in the strategical point of view, I believe I'm doing a very solid season... I just didnt score in 2 races, the first had the worst possible weather to my tyres (cold/wet) and the 2nd I had a random in a cold/dry race. But something had my attention and probably from the whole group starting from R8, BR became worse. Before that race, BR was 1-1.2s faster than BY on hot/dry races, now Its 0.6-0.8s max. In the rain BY is faster even on hot, on cold the difference is unreal and unfair if we look tyres stats. 2 theories: admins changed tyres performance during the season or the famous champions curse story again.
What can You say about Vsevolod as a manager?
Leandro: A very good manager, especially hiring great prepared drivers on the market. From last season, he stopped to make mistakes and this will help him to score his first trophy very soon. Probably this season! If not, in the next one.
Seems like the next race is favorable to get a 3rd win in a row for You. Or maybe You think that Demydov or someone else is the main favourite to win a race in Kaunas?
Leandro: Not with wet Q's. Although my driver skills in the rain, Demidov is definitely the favourite to win this race after the weird happenings during/after R8. And more, Qualifyings boost will be very important for who will be free or not from the spinning fest, hope for good ones to have a chance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, let‘s talk with the best Ukraine manager - Vsevolod Demydov - who is 2nd in the standings and is only 10 points behind Leandro:
How is it that paying 3.4mln per race less than 3 other Elite guys for tyres You are only 10 points behind the leader and still fighting for the championship with 4 races to go?
Vsevolod: I think situation with tyres is fully unfair. Last changes that were maid during this season gave big advantage for BY tyres. I'd like to ask admins to make this change back, it kill's tyres selection. Next season nobody will take expensive tyres.
What do You think admins should do so that we could see Michis in the Elite races again? Or maybe You believe that a current suppliers situation is perfect for Elite group?
Vsevolod: I suppose in current conditions Michis are not tyres for champions. So we have 2 ways: make their perfomance better or make them cheaper. It's market rule: supply and demand should be balanced. Nobody took Michis - next season it should be cheaper.
In Your opinion who is the favourite to win the race in Kaunas?
Vsevolod: It's hard to say. In rain races many guys have very close speed. So that will win who will make less spins than others. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is one more Elite manager, trying to retain in Elite for the second time in his career, who agreed to answer some questions – it’s Lukas Jonaitis:
You managed to sign probably the best available driver before the season. Nevertheless seems like You are having quite hard times getting into the TOP10 in the standings. Is it because of very high competition level or are there any other reasons for that?
Lukas: Lack of luck is probably the biggest problem I have had this season. Randoms, misclaculations, bad strategical choices, everything went against me. On the other hand, the driver was taken while looking more at next 2-3 seasons rather than this one, so I haven't been angry with what happened so far this season at all, losing out on 2 sponsors by few percents was way bigger problem than bad results in races.
Who do You support in 2 horses battle for the Elite Champion name with 4 races to go (assuming Toygun has only theoretical chances)? What You can say about both contenders as managers?
Lukas: I've actually not been following situation at the top of the table closely this season, I even had to check standings to see which are the 2 fighting for the title. :) Both managers are great, Leandro was the one I fancied to win before this season started, but what Vsevolod did with BadYears so far this season is very impressive too. Whoever wins it will be worth it. Finally, what do You think admins should do so that we could see Michis in the Elite races again? Or maybe You believe that a current suppliers situation is perfect for Elite group?
Lukas: It's a really hard task for admins to make suppliers so close that all of them would be useful for ones or others. We can remember some seasons ago Michelinis were popular choice, then everyone was saying that other suppliers should be changed in order to bring them into grid. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully You enjoyed the read and don‘t forget to check the thread after every race as You will find many new interviews!
Don‘t miss the last Elite races, where we will definitely see a close and entertaining fight for the Season 34 Elite trophy between Leandro Sereno, Vsevolod Demydov and maybe even Toygun Senler who still has theoretical chances to become a Champion!

Why not? But firstly let's see how this one evolves and how much interest it will have for example after 10 races.
At least now You will have additional motivation to get to Elite ;D
Thanks for a great response so far guys!

a tyre complaint to the admins disguised as 3 interviews..? :P joking aside, that was a very interesting read, also for a relative n00b like me. will be interesting to see if you can keep the interest going to live up to your pretty aggressive promise of doing one of these after every race, but if you can, it'll probably be a nice way of generating increased interest in Elite, also at the lower levels where most of us hang around. nicely done.

How it is possible to change tyres performance without changing tyres characteristics? :) Magic for sure. :)
Glad to see credible managers saying what was obvious after race 5 of this season.
EDIT: I mean, changes are good but should be done in some way visible otherwise the tyres choice is definitely a lottery and consequently unfair for some managers.

Do we definitely know there was a change in tyres? I mean, there was something odd about the India race and tyres, I agree there, but every other race performance has been about what I expected. Then again I haven't watched elite that closely.

I was unaware of the tire ordeal in Elite :o I have to say it sounds funny and unfair IMO to make unannounced changes to the tires mid season, after all the work that goes into picking the best tire at season start.

Valencia pace between BY and BR was weird. Also with high temps and rain BR is not anymore so strong (comparing with BY) as it was in the past (race 1 of this season is a good example).
